Arc and his companions continue their journey south, but a devastating revelation about Chiyome’s long-lost friend changes everything.
The latest episode of Skeleton Knight in Another World Season 2 delivered one of the most shocking twists of the entire series. Episode 9, titled “Reunited to the Sound of a Dark Beast’s Howl,” aired on August 31, 2026. The episode follows Arc, Ariane, Chiyome, and Tsubone as they chase after Danka to the southern continent. But the reunion they expected turns into a heartbreaking discovery that completely changes Chiyome’s understanding of her past.
Arrival at Plymouth and the Search for Danka
The group arrives at Plymouth, a port town on the southern continent where Danka was supposed to be recovering from his injuries. But when they get there, they find out that Danka has already left for the town of Tajiento. Walking the distance would take more than a week, so the group needs to find a faster way to travel.
Since they cannot find any regular riding creatures, they decide to try something unusual. They come across a large six-legged beast called a Driftops, which is used by the Tiger Clan as a mount. To borrow the Driftops, Arc must prove his strength in a contest and earn the creature’s recognition as its master. This leads to some lighthearted moments as Arc takes on the challenge.
A Rough Ride and Some Comfort
Once they secure the Driftops, the journey is not easy. The ride proves to be rough and challenging, with Ariane having a particularly difficult time. The episode uses this discomfort for humor, showing Ariane struggling to stay comfortable on the strange beast. Chiyome steps in to help her friend with a massage, which fans of the series found to be an interesting moment.
Later, Tsubone helps Arc get rid of his fatigue. But her technique is more physical than relaxing, adding another comedic beat to the episode. Amid all this, Arc prepares a delicious homemade pasta dish using fresh tomatoes and peppers he gathered, bringing a warm moment to the group.
Meeting the Tiger Clan and a Monster Attack
The group eventually meets another group of creatures controlled by the Tiger Clan. Tension rises at first, but Danka is familiar with Chief Ayn and helps calm the situation. The reunion with Danka is short-lived, however, because gigantic monsters called Giamants suddenly attack the town.
Arc moves quickly to protect the clan. He heals an injured warrior while the others try to understand why these attacks are happening against what seems to be a peaceful group. The investigation into the Giamant assaults uncovers something shocking. The attacks are happening because the monsters’ offspring were killed outside the Tiger Clan’s territory. This has put the clan in a position of being falsely blamed for murders they did not commit.
The Devastating Discovery About Sasuke
The episode takes a dark turn when a horrifying clue is found. A human-sized ring is pulled from the flesh of a creature the cardinal is eating, pointing to the fate of captured elves and beastfolk. This leads to the episode’s biggest twist.
The killer who has been tainting the region is revealed to be Sasuke, the elf warrior Chiyome had been searching for. But Sasuke is no longer alive. He appears as an undead servant, bound by a curse. Instead of the heroic reunion Chiyome hoped for, she discovers that her long-lost friend has become something terrible.
Sasuke is voiced by Kensho Ono. The revelation completely turns everything Chiyome knew about her past upside down. The episode ends on a devastating cliffhanger as Chiyome faces the truth about what has happened to the person she once considered a brother.
