Why SNL Had No New Episode on October 24, 2026 — Full Season 52 Schedule and Return Date

Saturday Night Live did not air a new episode on October 24, 2026. The show is in the middle of a planned two-week break that started after the October 10 episode. NBC aired a rerun instead, and the next fresh episode is set for Halloween night, October 31, with Inde Navarrette hosting and Gracie Abrams as the musical guest.

The Break Was Planned Before the Season Started

NBC announced the pause in September 2026 when it shared the first batch of hosts and musical guests for Season 52. The show opened with three new episodes in a row — September 26, October 3, and October 10 — and then went on a scheduled two-week rest.

October 17 and October 24 were both set as off weeks from the start. The break is not tied to any production problem or last-minute change. It was built into the season calendar.

What Aired Instead on October 24

NBC filled the 11:30 p.m. ET slot with a rerun of the October 3 episode. That episode featured Dakota Johnson as host and Turnstile as the musical guest.

The October 17 slot also carried a repeat, airing the September 26 season premiere with Jalen Brunson and KATSEYE.

Season 52 Opened With Three Straight Shows

Saturday Night Live Season 52 premiered on September 26, 2026, with NBA star Jalen Brunson hosting and KATSEYE as the musical guest. It was Brunson’s first time hosting and KATSEYE’s first appearance on the show.

The second episode on October 3 had Dakota Johnson and Turnstile. The third episode on October 10 was hosted by Shane Gillis with Rosalía as the musical guest.

The Next Three Episodes Are Confirmed

NBC released the lineup for the next run of shows on October 22, 2026.

• October 31: Inde Navarrette hosts with Gracie Abrams as the musical guest. It is Navarrette’s first time hosting. The episode falls on Halloween night.
• November 7: Comedian Druski makes his hosting debut with The Strokes as the musical guest. The Strokes are appearing for the fifth time.
• November 14: John Mulaney returns to host for the seventh time, with Phoebe Bridgers as the musical guest. Mulaney worked as an SNL writer from 2008 to 2012.
