Following a high-stakes sixth episode, the series is heading into even darker territory. Episode 7, titled ‘Deepest Wound’, is set for release on January 9, 2026. This chapter promises to show the heavy consequences of secrets and shifting power inside the ludus walls.
What to Expect from Episode 7 ‘Deepest Wound’
The official plot teaser for the new episode is brief but full of meaning. It states: “Korris demands blood; Ashur attempts to sway an enemy toward his cause.” This points to a major episode for both characters as their plans from previous episodes come to a head.
For Korris, played by Graham McTavish, this demand for blood follows a period of deep personal conflict. In Episode 6, his lover, the lanista Opiter, offered Ashur his entire gladiator school in exchange for Korris’s freedom. Korris refused, choosing to stay, but this act left him in a difficult position. His “demand for blood” in Episode 7 could be a reaction to this situation. He may be seeking revenge or trying to prove his worth in a violent way to settle the tension his choice created.
Ashur’s story is one of constant political chess. His attempt to “sway an enemy” comes at a very risky time. The final moments of Episode 6 showed Ashur trying to convince Senator Gabinius that Julius Caesar has his own secret plans, a move that clearly rattled the powerful Roman. This enemy Ashur must now turn could be Gabinius himself, or perhaps a rival like Proculus or even Cossutia. With Caesar’s wife, Cornelia, still in the villa humiliating him and pushing her own agenda, Ashur’s power is under threat from all sides.
The episode title, ‘Deepest Wound’, suggests these conflicts will cut deeper than simple arena battles. It points to emotional and psychological damage. For Ashur, his deepest wound might be his past as a slave, a status the Roman elite will never let him forget. For Achillia, who is still recovering from a severe hand injury that could end her fighting career, it is the haunting memory of a girl from her village whose death she feels responsible for. How these personal wounds drive the characters’ actions will be a central theme.
The short synopsis tease says, “Korris demands blood; Ashur attempts to sway an enemy toward his cause.”

Main Cast and Character Guide
The story of House of Ashur is driven by a mix of returning favorites and new faces. Leading the series is Nick E. Tarabay, who once again plays Ashur. In this new timeline, he is no longer a scheming survivor but the dominus of his own ludus, a position that brings its own heavy dangers.
Graham McTavish plays Korris, the house’s Doctore. He is a man caught between his duty, his personal feelings for Opiter, and a growing understanding of Achillia. Tenika Davis stars as Achillia, the Nubian gladiatrix whose success in the arena is vital for Ashur’s plans but whose injured hand now puts everything at risk.
The Roman political world is filled with schemers. Claudia Black plays the cold and calculating Cossutia, who looks down on Ashur. India Shaw-Smith is Viridia, the widow who sees Ashur as a hero and is growing closer to him, much to her mother Cossutia’s anger. Jackson Gallagher plays a young and cunning Julius Caesar, with Jaime Slater as his wife Cornelia. Together, they work to manipulate events in Capua for Caesar’s own future gain.
Within the ludus walls, Jamaica Vaughan plays Hilara, Ashur’s personal servant and lover, while Ivana Baquero plays her friend Messia, whose feelings for Hilara are not returned.
How Episode 6 Set the Stage for the ‘Deepest Wound’
The events of Episode 6, titled ‘Empty Things’, directly created the tense situation leading into the new episode. The main crisis is Achillia’s severe hand injury from her fight in Episode 5. The infection is so bad the medicus wants to cut off her hand, but Ashur refuses, knowing her value is gone without it.
This medical crisis forces Ashur to send Korris to find a new healer. Korris goes to Opiter, who uses the meeting to reveal his own role in Viridia’s kidnapping and to propose that he and Korris run away together. Korris’s refusal leads Opiter to make a shocking offer to Ashur: his entire gladiator school in exchange for Korris’s freedom. This deal is a ticking clock for Korris’s future and his relationship with Ashur.
Meanwhile, Cornelia continues to assert control. She forces Ashur to stand naked in front of Cossutia and Viridia, a move meant to break his spirit and remind him of his place. She then orders Ashur to convince Gabinius to let his daughter Viridia marry one of Caesar’s allies, a command that pushes Ashur to make his risky move of warning Gabinius about Caesar’s secret plans.
All these threadsโAchillia’s survival, Korris’s loyalty, Opiter’s deal, and Ashur’s dangerous political gameโare left hanging, ready to be pulled tight in the upcoming ‘Deepest Wound.’
