Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on track to rule the domestic box office for the third weekend in a row. The Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios movie collected $19 million on Friday and is expected to reach around $67 million for the full weekend. This performance keeps the superhero film comfortably ahead of two new dinosaur-themed releases—The End of Oak Street and Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie.
The Tom Holland and Zendaya-led feature has been breaking records since its July 31 release. After 17 days in theaters, the movie is set to hit a North American total of $782.8 million. That number would place it at No. 5 on the all-time domestic chart, just behind Avatar ($785.2 million) and ahead of Top Gun: Maverick ($718 million). Globally, the film has already crossed $1.8 billion, making it one of the highest-grossing movies ever.
The End of Oak Street Opens With Modest Numbers
Warner Bros. released The End of Oak Street in 3,400 North American theaters on Friday. The sci-fi survival thriller, directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), stars Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as a family whose suburban neighborhood gets transported to a land filled with prehistoric predators.
The movie pulled in $8.1 million on Friday, which includes Thursday previews. It is looking at an opening weekend around $20 million. The film carries an $80 million production budget and has received a B CinemaScore from audiences. Critics have been more generous, giving it an 85 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes while the audience score stands at 77 percent.
In his review for The Hollywood Reporter, chief film critic David Rooney called the movie “mindlessly entertaining in a big-dumb-fun kind of way”.
At the Oak Street premiere, Hathaway shared her thoughts on the film’s originality.
“I’m grateful that audiences want to go see original things, and this movie is really original.”
The film’s performance in India got off to a slow start. It earned Rs 90 lakh net on Day 1 from 1,856 shows, with a gross collection of Rs 1.08 crore. The overall occupancy was just 12.3 percent on Friday. The English version contributed the most with Rs 75 lakh, while the Hindi version earned Rs 10 lakh.
Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie Chases Strong Family Audience
Paramount Pictures released Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie in more than 3,500 North American locations. The animated family film collected $7.3 million on Friday, including previews from Thursday and the previous Saturday. It is projected to land around $20 million for its opening weekend.
The movie has a $39.5 million production budget and has already added $38.3 million from 52 overseas markets. It earned an A CinemaScore from audiences, matching the score of the previous sequel, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie.
The voice cast includes Mckenna Grace, Terry Crews, Jennifer Hudson, and Snoop Dogg. Director Cal Brunker’s film sees the Paw Patrol canine heroes ending up in a world filled with dinosaurs.
The previous sequel, PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie, opened to $22.7 million domestically in 2023 and went on to earn $205 million globally.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened to a massive $360 million domestically in its first weekend, breaking the record previously held by Avengers: Endgame. Its worldwide opening reached $927 million, marking the second-biggest global debut in cinema history.
The film became the highest-grossing movie of 2026 in just seven days, overtaking Pixar’s Toy Story 5 with $1.155 billion globally. It crossed $700 million domestically at record speed, becoming only the fourth Marvel Cinematic Universe release to hit that mark.
Sony Pictures expects the movie to soon surpass the global total of $1.9 billion.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and features a cast that includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando, and Mark Ruffalo. It was released exclusively in theaters on July 31, 2026. In India, the film arrived a day earlier on July 30, 2026.
With Spider-Man: Brand New Day continuing its strong run, The End of Oak Street and Paw Patrol: The Dino Movie will have to settle for second and third place as the summer box office heats up.
