The new Korean drama Spooky in Love has arrived, and viewers are already talking about its mix of romance, ghosts, and mystery. The show brings together a talented cast to tell the story of a hotel heiress who can see spirits and a prosecutor who is terrified of them. Here is a complete guide to the main cast and characters in this supernatural romantic comedy.
The series is a television remake of the 2011 Korean movie Spellbound, which starred Son Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki. But this new version expands the original two-hour film into a 12-episode drama with more ghost cases, deeper character stories, and additional plotlines involving business competition and family conflicts.
Spooky in Love premiered on July 18, 2026, on South Korean cable channel tvN and is also streaming worldwide on Netflix. New episodes release every Saturday and Sunday, with the finale scheduled for August 23, 2026. Each episode runs about 70 minutes.
Park Eun-bin as Cheon Yeo-ri
Park Eun-bin takes on the lead role of Cheon Yeo-ri, a wealthy hotel CEO who appears to have everything. She runs the prestigious Reina Hotel and seems confident and successful on the outside. But she has carried a secret since childhood: she can see, hear, and communicate with ghosts.
Here is the twist that makes her life even more complicated. Anyone who comes into physical contact with her temporarily gains the ability to see ghosts as well. Because she knows how frightening that experience can be, she avoids touching people by wearing gloves and keeping everyone at a distance. This behavior makes many people think she is cold and rude, but she is actually protecting others from a life-changing experience they did not ask for.
Park Eun-bin is known for her roles in popular dramas like Extraordinary Attorney Woo, The King’s Affection, and Castaway Diva. She recently starred in Netflix’s The Wonderfools and Disney+’s Hyper Knife. At a press conference in Seoul, she shared her excitement about turning a film into a drama series.
“The idea of turning a film into a drama series really struck me as an exciting new challenge. While the original film runs for about two hours, a 12-episode series gives us at least six times more room to expand the story and introduce new settings and elements.”
Park Eun-bin also explained that her character has been reimagined for the drama. She said:
“My character is still named Yeo-ri, but unlike in the film, she’s no longer Kang Yeo-ri. Beyond the name, we’ve reimagined many aspects of the story, so I focused on bringing out what makes the drama version unique.”
Yang Se-jong as Ma Gang-uk
Yang Se-jong plays Ma Gang-uk, a respected prosecutor who values justice above everything else. He is fearless when facing criminals but has one weakness: he is terrified of ghosts.
When he meets Yeo-ri and accidentally gains the ability to see spirits, his life takes a chaotic turn. Despite his fear, he remains determined to solve crimes and becomes her investigative partner. He is a driven prosecutor who investigates unsolved murder cases, and he works with Yeo-ri to solve mysterious incidents involving the supernatural.
Yang Se-jong has appeared in dramas such as Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim, Temperature of Love, My Country, and Doona!.
Ong Seong-wu as Kang Min-hwan
Ong Seong-wu joins the cast as Kang Min-hwan, another luxury hotel owner who shares a close bond with Yeo-ri. He is deeply passionate about being at the top and is willing to manipulate situations for his benefit. This makes him a potential rival to Yeo-ri later in the series, or possibly just a friend who also has feelings for her.
Ong Seong-wu is a former member of the K-pop group Wanna One and has been building his acting career.
Jo Hye-joo as Cheon Ha-ri
Jo Hye-joo plays Cheon Ha-ri, Yeo-ri’s cousin from her father’s side of the family. She is always looking for ways to take Yeo-ri’s position at the hotel. Ha-ri is described as calculative and vain. She holds feelings of inferiority toward Yeo-ri and watches for any opportunity to replace her.
The Supporting Cast
Spooky in Love features a strong supporting cast that adds depth to the story.
Kim Do-wan plays Park Seung-jae, a professional golfer and Cheon Ha-ri’s fiancé. He comes from a powerful family and holds a grudge against prosecutor Ma Gang-uk over a past legal dispute.
Kim Seo-ra takes on the role of Song Hee-won, the vice chairwoman of CL Hotel & Resort Group. She has a gentle appearance but a determined personality, and she hides a secret about her son Kang Min-hwan.
Lee Joon-hyuk plays Bong Ji-wook, the general manager of Reina Hotel. He is a capable professional who assists CEO Cheon Yeo-ri closely and secretly develops a sense of closeness with her.
Baek Ji-won appears as Ok Gye-hee, Cheon Ha-ri’s mother. She carefully designs a succession plan to pass the group down to her own children instead of Cheon Yeo-ri.
Ye Soo-jung plays Baek Kyung-ja, the mother-in-law of Ok Gye-hee.
Lee Chang-hoon takes on the role of Go Pil-dong, an investigator at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office. He has excellent intuition and shares a brotherly bond with prosecutor Ma Gang-uk.
What the Show Is About
The story follows two completely different people whose lives unexpectedly become connected. Cheon Yeo-ri is a hotel heiress who can see ghosts and is haunted nightly by spirits of people who died unjustly. Ma Gang-uk is a prosecutor who investigates unsolved murder cases but is deeply afraid of the supernatural.
The pair form a reluctant partnership to investigate occult incidents. They gradually move from wary allies to romantic partners as they confront both human crime and restless spirits. The drama blends romance, comedy, supernatural mystery, crime investigation, and family drama.
Director Lee Min-su explained his approach to the series at a press conference.
“Rather than directing the series with a global audience in mind, I wanted to lean into what makes Korean dramas distinctive. The comedy Korean actors create and the humor that naturally grows out of character relationships feel different from what you see in dramas from other countries.”
He also focused on creating comedy that is easy to enjoy.
“With that in mind, I put a great deal of effort into creating comedy that’s easy to enjoy and delivers those fun, dopamine-inducing moments.”
