The Apple TV+ series returns June 19 with an eight-episode run. The new trailer teases another dangerous mystery while quietly nodding to the show’s big alien twist from season one.
The first trailer for Sugar Season 2 dropped on May 27, 2026, giving fans a fresh look at Colin Farrell back as private investigator John Sugar. The eight-episode season arrives on June 19, 2026 on Apple TV+.
The new season follows Sugar as he takes on a missing persons case. He searches for the older brother of a young boxer who is starting to make a name for himself. But the job quickly grows into something much bigger.
The New Case Pulls Sugar Into A Darker Mystery
The official description for season two says Sugarโs investigation expands into a “sinister, city-wide conspiracy.” The private eye must also continue looking for his own missing sister, a storyline left open from the first season.
The trailer shows Sugar driving around Los Angeles in his classic 1960s Corvette, wearing sharp suits, and talking to dangerous people. The LAPD appears to be involved in whatever is hiding beneath the surface of this new case.
Shea Whigham, Raymond Lee, and Sasha Calle join the cast for season two. They appear alongside returning actors Jin Ha, Tony Dalton, and Laura Donnelly.
The Trailer Does Not Ignore The Alien Twist From Season One
Fans who watched the first season remember the huge surprise at the end of episode six. John Sugar is not a normal human detective. He is an alien with blue skin who came to Earth looking for his sister.
The season two trailer does not show Sugar in his alien form. But it does include one quick moment that addresses it. Donnellyโs character asks Sugar where he is from. He rolls his eyes and replies, “Can we skip that one?”
That short line is the only hint about the sci-fi side of the show in the entire trailer. The rest focuses on the neo-noir detective work that made the first season popular.
New Faces Join The Cast While Old Questions Remain
Sam Catlin, known for his work on Preacher and Breaking Bad, takes over as showrunner for season two. Mark Protosevich remains the creator of the series.
The new season brings in a fresh group of characters played by Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, and Sasha Calle. Shea Whigham also appears as a special guest star.
The show will release one episode each Friday after the June 19 premiere. The season finale is scheduled for August 7, 2026.
