Tamil and Telugu actor Sunainaa has spoken out for a second time after an obscene AI-generated video using her face spread across social media. In a statement shared on Friday, October 30, 2026, the Neerparavai actor said it is “deeply disturbing” that women still have to fight for the basic right to exist without their identities being exploited. She also asked fans to stop engaging with such content, question what they see online, and speak up when they witness exploitation.
The actor first addressed the issue on Monday, October 27, 2026, through a statement on Instagram. She condemned the video, confirmed it was made without her consent, and announced plans to begin criminal and civil proceedings against everyone involved in creating, publishing, or sharing the morphed content. Her second statement, released three days later, shifted focus to the wider problem of digital exploitation and the everyday choices that keep such content alive.
What Happened: An AI Video Using Sunainaa’s Face
An AI-generated video featuring Sunainaa’s likeness began circulating on social media and other online platforms in late October 2026. The content used artificial intelligence to place her face onto obscene material, making a person appear to resemble her in appearance, likeness, and persona. The video was digitally created and was not made with her permission.
Sunainaa clarified that she had no connection to the video. She said she had neither consented to nor authorised its creation, publication, or circulation in any manner. Any suggestion that she was associated with the content was false, misleading, and without foundation.
The actor described the incident as a gross violation of her dignity, privacy, and identity. She said the act amounted to sexual harassment and defamation and constituted a criminal offence under Indian law, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Sunainaa’s First Statement: Appalled and Disgusted
Sunainaa’s first statement, shared on October 27, 2026, was direct and firm. She wrote:
“It has come to my notice that an AI video is being circulated on social media and other online platforms in which my face has been morphed, using artificial intelligence, onto obscene content. The content is digitally generated or manipulated, with a person made to resemble me in appearance, likeness and persona. I am appalled and disgusted by this vile and malicious act, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”
She also made clear that the content was not harmless entertainment. The actor described it as a serious violation and warned that such conduct would not be tolerated. She asked people to immediately stop creating, uploading, sharing, forwarding, or reposting the content, including any part or variation of it. She also asked anyone who already had the video to delete it from every platform, account, group, and device under their control.
Sunainaa warned that she would initiate criminal and civil proceedings, without further notice, against every person responsible for creating, publishing, or circulating the content. She also cautioned that anyone who shared it further would be held liable.
Second Statement: A Wider Fight for Women’s Safety
Three days later, on Friday, October 30, 2026, Sunainaa released a second statement that moved beyond her own case. She connected the incident to the everyday reality of women’s safety and the casual way women’s images can be misused online.
“At a time when women’s safety is already a serious concern, it is deeply disturbing that we still have to fight for something as fundamental as the right to exist without our identities being exploited or our dignity being compromised.”
She described the anger and disgust she felt and pointed out that there was no justification for such behaviour. What stood out to her was the casualness with which someone could misuse a woman’s image, as though her consent, feelings, and voice simply did not matter.
Sunainaa also made it clear that she would not let the incident define her peace or change how she moves through the world. But she stressed that fabricated content of this nature is not harmless. She called it a serious violation and said it is important to recognise it for what it is.
A Call for Collective Responsibility
The second statement ended with a direct appeal to the public. Sunainaa asked people not to engage with content that exploits someone’s identity. She asked them to question what they see and speak up when they witness it. These may seem like small choices, but collectively, they shape the world we live in, she wrote.
The actor’s message placed responsibility not only on the people who create such videos but also on the people who watch, share, and forward them. Her warning that even further sharing would invite legal liability underlined that point.
Legal Ground and the Wider AI Misuse Problem
Sunainaa’s statement cited specific Indian laws that make such content a criminal offence. The Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 both cover offences related to obscene material, impersonation, and harassment through digital means.
The incident is part of a growing pattern of AI misuse in Indian entertainment. Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR recently warned of legal action after an AI-morphed version of their song Chuttamalle from Devara was altered to create obscene content. Rashmika Mandanna and Keerthy Suresh have also spoken out against the misuse of their likeness.
Sunainaa is not the first actor to face this problem, and her case has drawn attention to how quickly AI tools can be used to create realistic but fabricated content. The actor’s two statements, released within three days of each other, show how the issue moved from a personal legal warning to a broader public appeal about digital dignity and consent.
