Taylor Swift keeps her fans on their toes! The award-winning singer recently released live recordings of three surprise songs from her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD), for a limited time.
Surprise Songs from the City of Lights
These special tracks were performed live during her sold-out Eras Tour shows in Paris earlier this month. To the delight of Swifties everywhere, Taylor has now made these live versions available for purchase as part of three exclusive bundles.
Each bundle, priced at $5.99 USD, includes a surprise song and the full 16-track standard TTPD album. Here’s what you can get:
- loml (from the May 9th concert)
- My Boy Only Breaks His Favorite Toys (from the May 10th show)
- The Alchemy (mashed up with Treacherous) (from the May 12th concert)
These bundles were reportedly only available for purchase for 24 hours, making them a true collector’s item for die-hard fans.
A Tour Filled with Female Rage and Special Touches
During the Paris leg of the Eras Tour, Taylor dedicated a segment of her setlist to showcasing her new album. She playfully called this section “Female Rage: The Musical,” featuring seven powerful songs from TTPD.
Fans were further treated to surprise song choices throughout the tour. Taylor would often perform two additional songs acoustically, either on piano or guitar, just for the lucky audience that night.
A Touchdown for Love
One of the surprise songs, “The Alchemy,” features a playful reference to American football, a nod to Taylor’s rumored romance with NFL player Travis Kelce. A line in the song says, “So when I touch down, call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team.”
The 34-year-old Kelce himself revealed to People magazine that he attended the final Paris show on May 12th, where he got to hear “The Alchemy” live. He also hinted that his favorite song on TTPD might be a little biased – “So High School,” another song speculated to be about him.
More Music and Trademark Mania: Taylor Swift
Following the Paris shows, Taylor’s team filed an application to trademark the term “Female Rage: The Musical” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This move has fueled speculation that a theatrical adaptation of the album might be in the works.
Meanwhile, the Eras Tour continues its European leg. After wrapping up shows in Portugal and Spain at the end of May, it will travel across Europe throughout the summer before concluding in London in August.
While there were initial plans for additional U.S. shows, those seem to be on hold for now. But with Taylor’s love of surprises, who knows what exciting announcements might come next?
