The final trailer for The Boys Season 5 is here, and it puts an end to all the guessing about what Homelander really wants. The leader of the Seven is not just happy running the country from the Oval Office. He wants to live forever.
The trailer, released on March 5, 2026, shows Antony Starr’s Homelander revealing his plan to get his hands on V-One, the very first version of Compound V. If he takes it, he becomes immortal. No one will ever be able to stop him.
Homelander’s Bigger Destiny
The trailer opens with Homelander sitting comfortably in the White House. “My power is absolute,” he says. “But I have a bigger destiny.”
That destiny, fans now learn, is to find Vought’s original Compound V. This is not the standard V that gives people powers. This is the original formula, and it promises god-like immortality to any Supe who takes it.
Homelander knows he cannot do it alone. He wakes up his father, Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) , from cryogenic freeze. “I need you, father,” Homelander tells him. “We need to prepare America for my ascension.”
Butcher’s Last Stand
Standing in his way is Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) . Butcher has a plan of his own. He wants to release a virus that will kill every Supe on the planet. It is a desperate move, and it puts him on a collision course with Homelander and Soldier Boy.
The trailer shows Butcher using his dark tentacle powers again. He even throws a car at Soldier Boy during a fight. “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em,” Soldier Boy says to Butcher. Butcher replies, “Then f—ing beat ’em.”
Karl Urban recently warned fans that nobody is safe this season. “Fatalities right from the get-go,” he told Variety. “Let’s go! Last season! It’s all on!”
The Boys Are Broken
The team is in bad shape when the season starts. Hughie (Jack Quaid) , Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso) , and Frenchie (Tomer Capone) are locked up in something called a “Freedom Camp.” Annie (Erin Moriarty) is trying to build a resistance, but it is hard against so many Supes. Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) is missing.
For the first time, the trailer shows Kimiko speaking. She asks, “You guys are friends?” It is a big moment for a character who was known as “the Female” in the comics and barely talked for years.
Supernatural Reunion
Fans of the long-running show Supernatural have a lot to look forward to. The trailer confirms the on-screen reunion of Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki, and Misha Collins.
Ackles is back as Soldier Boy. Padalecki appears briefly in the trailer, looking shocked at whatever he is seeing. Collins gets the roughest welcome. The trailer shows Soldier Boy choking him out. It is a violent reunion, but fans of Supernatural creator Eric Kripke have been waiting years to see these three actors share a scene again.
New Faces and Old Friends
The final season is bringing in characters from the spinoff show Gen V. Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair) and Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh) appear in the trailer. They are joining Starlight to fight against Homelander.
The trailer also introduces Daveed Diggs as Oh-Father. In the comics, he leads a group called Capes for Christ. The show seems to be using him to help Homelander control the people.
A-Train’s Big Decision
Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train looks like he might finally pick a side. The trailer shows him running past posters of Homelander. He is also seen with Hughie and Starlight. After years of looking out for himself, A-Train might actually try to do the right thing. Or it could be a trick. Fans will have to wait and see.
