The upcoming horror movie has confirmed its main cast, bringing together K-pop idols and rising actors for a chilling story about six friends who face strange events during a camping trip.
Ji Changmin, who performs as Q in THE BOYZ, and Chu So Jung, known as Exy from WJSN, are set to star in the new film Akgu: The Secret of the Moon Shadow (working title). The production team announced the casting lineup on August 10, 2026, confirming that filming will begin in September 2026.
What We Know About the Horror Film So Far
Akgu: The Secret of the Moon Shadow is a horror movie that follows six 27-year-old friends who come from different backgrounds and hold different values. They go on a camping trip deep into the forest to check out rumors about a mysterious pond. During their trip, they encounter strange and unexplained phenomena.
The film is currently in pre-production. The team plans to start principal photography in September 2026, with a target release in 2027.
Ji Changmin (Q) Takes on His First Major Film Role
Ji Changmin, who is widely known as Q from THE BOYZ, will play Tae Yeop. His character is described as the most logical and rational person among the six friends.
This marks an important step for Changmin as he moves into acting. While he has built a strong career as a singer and dancer with THE BOYZ, this film gives him a chance to show his skills on the big screen. He will take on a central role that drives the story forward.
Fans of THE BOYZ have seen Changmin’s talent in music and performances. Now they will get to watch him in a completely different space, playing a character who must keep his cool while strange things happen around him.
Chu So Jung (Exy) Returns to Horror Genre
Chu So Jung, who performs as Exy in WJSN, will play Ja Kyung. Her character is the one who suggests the camping trip to investigate the pond rumors. She has strong beliefs that push the story in unexpected directions.
This is not Exy’s first time in the horror genre. She previously appeared in the omnibus horror film Seoul Ghost Story (also known as Urban Myths) in 2022. She has also acted in dramas like The Divorce Insurance and Heo’s Diner, as well as the film Eighteen Youth.
With her past experience in horror and her growing acting career, Exy is expected to bring a strong presence to her role as Ja Kyung.
Other Cast Members Join the Project
The film also features a number of other actors in key roles.
Yoon Sang Hyun (born 2002) will play Min, a character who joins Ja Kyung in leading the camping trip. Min is stubborn and determined to uncover the secrets of the pond, no matter what it takes. Yoon made his debut in the drama Under the Queen’s Umbrella and has since appeared in Doctor Slump, Family by Choice, and the film The History of Confession.
Oh Woo Ri takes on the role of So Hae, a new member of the friend group. Her character is expected to create tension and shift the balance among the friends. Oh Woo Ri has appeared in dramas such as S-Line, Competition of Good Faith, and A Week Before I Die.
Kim Su Gyeom will play Noh Do, the person who holds the group together. His character puts friendship above everything else and works to protect the group as their relationships start to break down. Kim is known for his roles in Weak Hero Class 1 and After School War Activities.
Jang Yeo Bin plays Hee Jin, a former top student who is now a dentist. While she appears confident on the outside, she carries feelings of loneliness and anxiety. Jang has appeared in web dramas like Revenge Goddess series and the drama Everything We Loved.
A Fresh Casting Choice for K-Horror
The film brings together a mix of K-pop idols and young actors who are building their careers. This kind of casting has become more common in Korean horror films, as studios look for fresh faces to attract different audiences.
Q and Exy both have large fan bases from their music careers. Their participation in Akgu: The Secret of the Moon Shadow is likely to draw attention from K-pop fans who want to see their favorite idols try acting.
The film’s story about six friends facing supernatural events during a camping trip also fits a familiar but effective horror setup. The setting of a deep forest and a mysterious pond creates a natural space for tension and fear.
