Episode 1 Recap: To See You Once More
Episode 1, titled “To See You Once More,” aired on October 7, 2026. The premiere opened with Kimihiko Kimizuka, Nagisa Natsunagi, Yui Saikawa, and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson on their way to visit Siesta’s grave. The memorial trip was interrupted when unknown assailants abducted the four and locked them in a room.
Their captors showed them a recording made by Siesta herself a year before her death. In the video, Siesta spoke about the circumstances surrounding her death and the “mistake” the supposedly perfect detective made. She knew she was going to die and wanted the truth to be discovered.
Nagisa noticed a crucial detail while watching the recording, one that connected directly to her own identity and to Hel, the personality responsible for Siesta’s death. The episode also introduced Noches, a biological android modelled after Siesta and built using parts of her memories. Noches explained that Siesta was part of a group called “Tuners,” members of a secret organization who filled roles like “Great Detective”.
The episode ended with Nagisa summoning Hel through a mirror. Hel emerged and called Kimihiko “Master,” a reveal that left viewers with more questions about the connection between Hel, Siesta, and Kimihiko himself.
Kimihiko Kimizuka: The Sidekick Who Won’t Quit
Kimihiko has spent the past year living with Siesta’s death. He was her assistant for three years before she died, and the new case forced him back into detective work when Nagisa approached him as a client. Episode 1 placed him at the center of another abduction, much like the hijacking that first brought him and Siesta together. The recording revealed that Siesta had planned ahead for the truth to be found, which means Kimihiko’s role in her final plans was deliberate rather than accidental.
Nagisa Natsunagi: Carrying a Heart That Isn’t Hers
Nagisa was once named Alicia and carried an evil personality called Hel who killed Siesta. After receiving Siesta’s heart through transplant surgery, the Hel personality was suppressed, and she became Nagisa. Season 2 Episode 1 forced her to confront the fact that the person who killed Siesta existed inside her own body. The recording made by Siesta connected directly to Nagisa’s memories of being confined and studied, which had merged with her recollections of isolated hospital time. By the end of the episode, Nagisa summoned Hel through a mirror, shifting her from passive heart-carrier to an active participant in Siesta’s unfinished business.
Yui Saikawa and Charlotte Arisaka Anderson
Yui Saikawa is an idol who has been part of Kimihiko’s circle since Season 1. Charlotte Arisaka Anderson, known as Char, is an assassin who also joined the group in the previous season. Both were abducted alongside Kimihiko and Nagisa at the start of Episode 1. Their roles in the premiere were limited to being part of the group shown Siesta’s recording, but their presence in the abduction suggests their skills and connections will matter as the SPES arc develops.

Siesta and Noches: The Dead Detective’s Legacy
Siesta died before Season 1 even began, but her presence has driven the entire story. Season 2 brings her back in two forms. The first is through her recorded message, in which she acknowledged her own death was coming and left behind instructions for uncovering the truth. The second is Noches, a biological android created from Siesta’s memories. Noches is voiced by Saki Miyashita, the same actress who voices Siesta, and carries the responsibility of continuing Siesta’s will as the next Great Detective. Noches explained the Tuners organization and Siesta’s place within it, filling in gaps about the larger world the series operates in.
Hel and the Mirror Summoning
Hel is the personality that killed Siesta, and she shares Nagisa’s body. She was suppressed after Nagisa received Siesta’s heart, but Episode 1 ended with Nagisa deliberately summoning her. When Hel emerged through the mirror, she called Kimihiko “Master,” a title that no one expected. The moment suggests Hel has knowledge about Kimihiko and Siesta’s relationship that neither of them shared with the group. Episode 2 will likely deal with the immediate consequences of Hel taking control of Nagisa’s body and what she wants from Kimihiko.
What to Expect from Episode 2
Episode 2, titled “Tales of That Day That No One Knows,” will follow directly from Hel’s emergence. The episode is expected to explore why Hel calls Kimihiko “Master” and what Siesta’s final mistake actually was. Nagisa’s struggle with inheriting Siesta’s position as Great Detective while sharing a body with Siesta’s killer will also continue to develop. The preview for Episode 2 was released on October 12, 2026, two days before the episode’s air date.
The anime adapts the SPES arc from the original light novels by Nigojū and Umibōzu. Manabu Kurihara returns to direct at ENGI, with Deko Akao handling series scripts and Yōsuke Itō designing characters. Koume performs the opening theme “Kono Shinzo ni Hanataba wo,” and Kagura Nana performs the ending theme “Hakuchūmu”.
