Warner Bros. just released the official trailer for The End of Oak Street, and it comes with a big surprise. The movie sends a whole neighborhood back in time. Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor play parents who must protect their family from hungry dinosaurs roaming their suburban street.
The film marks David Robert Mitchell’s return to directing. He is best known for the 2014 horror hit It Follows. This is his first movie since 2018’s Under the Silver Lake. J.J. Abrams produced the film through his company Bad Robot.
The Trailer Shows a Normal Street Turned Into a Prehistoric Nightmare
The new trailer begins with a quiet suburban life in the 1980s. Billy Joel’s song “My Life” plays in the background. Everything seems normal until a massive bright light swallows the entire neighborhood.
The Platt family wakes up to find their street has moved. They do not know where they are. At first, they guess it could be a helicopter, a UFO, or an alien attack. But the truth turns out to be much stranger. Their street has traveled 65 million years back in time.
The trailer then shows dinosaurs running through damaged streets. The family must fight to stay alive. McGregor’s character, Greg Platt, tries to keep everyone safe. Hathaway plays Denise Platt, a mother who will do anything for her children.
The official movie synopsis says: “After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, the Platt family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.”
Fans Are Excited to See Dinosaurs Outside the Jurassic Franchise
The trailer has gotten positive reactions online. Many viewers said they are happy to finally see a dinosaur movie that is not connected to Jurassic Park.
“Appears more impressive than the most recent Jurassic World films we have seen,” one YouTube user wrote.
Another person agreed: “Looks better than any of the last few Jurassic World movies we got.”
A third comment said: “Regardless how this movie turns out, it’s still nice to see other Dinosaur projects outside the Jurassic franchise.”
The Jurassic Park series started in 1993 and now has seven films. Big dinosaur movies rarely come from other studios. That makes The End of Oak Street stand out as something fresh.

Anne Hathaway is having an incredibly busy year in 2026. She has five movies coming out. She already appeared in The Devil Wears Prada 2 and the drama Mother Mary. Next month, she will be in Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of The Odyssey. After The End of Oak Street, she will star in the thriller Verity in October.
Ewan McGregor joins her as the father. The couple’s children are played by Maisy Stella and Christian Convery. Other cast members include Jordan Alexa Davis, P.J. Byrne, and Chris Coy.
The End of Oak Street arrives in theaters on August 14, 2026 in the United States and Australia. The film releases on August 13, 2026 in Switzerland and other European countries. India gets the movie in August 2026 as well. It will play in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The film will also be shown in IMAX theaters.
The movie was originally titled Flowervale Street. It had previous release dates set for May 2025 and March 2026 before settling on the August 2026 date.
Some fans online have started guessing that the film might connect to the Cloverfield movie universe. But the trailer does not confirm any links. It points toward a completely original story.
Mitchell is also working on a sequel to It Follows called They Follow, which will come out after this film.
