Returning Stars and Familiar Faces

While new characters are entering the story, the core team is coming back to close out the series. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns as the main man Mickey Haller, driving around Los Angeles in his Lincoln to defend the wrongly accused. His trusted team is also confirmed to return. Becki Newton is back as his ex-wife and legal partner Lorna Crane, Jazz Raycole returns as his driver Izzy Letts, and Angus Sampson is set to appear again as the investigator Cisco.

A major development for this season is the expanded role of Cobie Smulders as Emi Finch. She joined in Season 4 as Mickey’s half-sister, but in Season 5, she is a series regular and plays a huge part in the main case.

What the Final Season Is About

The story for Season 5 comes from the seventh book in author Michael Connelly’s series, titled Resurrection Walk. The plot focuses on Mickey’s half-sister, Emi, who comes to him for help. She wants him to take on a habeas petition to free a woman who was wrongfully convicted of murder.

The showrunners, Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, explained that they wanted to end the series the right way. They said they did not want the story to just drift away, so they worked with Netflix to plan this final chapter. The case will force Mickey to deal with dangerous corruption and dig into his own family’s hidden secrets.

“From the very beginning, the mission was always not only to tell the story of Mickey Haller and his compatriots, but also to give that story a proper conclusion.” – Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, Co-Showrunners

Production Status and Episode Count

Filming for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5 began in Los Angeles back in March 2026. The season will consist of 10 episodes, matching the length of previous seasons. As of mid-May 2026, production is still active. Netflix has not announced a specific premiere date yet, but looking at past release schedules, fans might expect the final season to arrive sometime in late 2026 or early 2027.
