The Paramount+ drama The Madison became a huge hit after its release on March 14, 2026. The show set new viewership records for the platform. The first episode got 8 million global views in its first 10 days. It also became the No. 1 streaming original in its first week. Matthew Fox Says the Script ‘Felt Like Home’

Matthew Fox plays Paul Clyburn, the brother of Kurt Russell’s character. Paul is a bachelor who loves the outdoors and lives in Montana. Fox said the script moved him from the very first read.

“The scripts really touched me. Everything in the scripts, all the imagery. I just was really moved by it and it felt familiar, it felt like home. It just felt soulful and full of heart.”

Fox is known for his lead role in the hit series Lost. He said Sheridan’s writing felt honest and relatable. He was drawn to the story before the cameras even started rolling.

Michelle Pfeiffer Joined Without a Full Script

Michelle Pfeiffer plays Stacy Clyburn, the matriarch of the family. Stacy is a sophisticated New Yorker dealing with loss and guilt after her husband dies in a plane crash. Pfeiffer said she agreed to do the show long before there were completed scripts.

When Taylor Sheridan first met with her, he only gave her the basic idea. He described a lonely woman dealing with many struggles who still remains strong for others. At that time, many things were still uncertain. Even Kurt Russell‘s involvement was not guaranteed because of scheduling problems. But Pfeiffer trusted Sheridan completely.

“When Taylor Sheridan meets with you and says, ‘I would like to develop a series around your character,’ I mean, you don’t take that lightly.”

Her decision paid off. The show became a massive hit. Pfeiffer also said she was surprised by who connected with the show the most.

“What I have been the most surprised by is how deeply this show resonates with people, and most surprisingly, men.”

She explained that the series creates a space where viewers can face emotions they often try to hide. The show deals with grief, loss and healing in a very real way.

Kurt Russell Couldn’t Get Through the Scripts Without Crying

Kurt Russell plays Preston Clyburn, the husband of Pfeiffer’s character. Preston is a wealthy New York finance worker who loves Montana. His character dies in a plane crash in the first episode. Russell said he had a hard time reading the scripts because they were so emotional.

“I had a hard time getting through every script. If there’s any guys out there that think the way I do, they’re going to be crying their eyes out half the time, and unabashedly so, because it’s the kind of thing that makes you really feel something.”

Russell is known for movies like Tombstone, The Thing and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He also serves as an executive producer on the show.
