The final chapter of the acclaimed spy thriller’s long-awaited second season is here. Tom Hiddleston returns as Jonathan Pine for one last mission in The Night Manager Season 2 Episode 6, which concludes the six-part series this weekend. What To Expect In The Season 2 Finale Plot
The official description for Episode 6 sets the stage for a major confrontation: “Pine works with Teddy to bring down Gilberto Hanson’s Colombia coup from the inside. But Hanson has found a new ally of his own. It’s winner takes all”.
This means Jonathan Pine will be in an uneasy alliance with Teddy Dos Santos, the arms dealer he was sent to infiltrate. Their goal is to dismantle a coup attempt led by Gilberto Hanson. However, the mission becomes more dangerous when Hanson secures a powerful new ally, turning the situation into a final battle where only one side can win.
The penultimate episode ended with Pine’s cover as the banker Matthew Ellis being blown, forcing him into a corner. This finale will likely see the culmination of the complex spycraft, with potential for major character endings and dramatic consequences.
The Night Manager Season 2 Cast And Characters
The series features a mix of returning stars from the first season and impressive new additions.
Tom Hiddleston leads the cast once again as Jonathan Pine, the former soldier and hotel night manager turned MI6 operative. In this season, he operates under the aliases Alex Goodwin and Matthew Ellis. Hiddleston has spoken about the challenge of returning to the role, stating, “I know we’ve been braver… We had to be braver and deeper, and had to try to be both more courageous and more compelling”.
Olivia Colman returns as Angela Burr, the intelligence officer who first recruited Pine. While she has stepped back from fieldwork, her connection to Pine remains strong. Colman described their dynamic: “They look after each other… Angela is protective of him as she’s the one who got him into this”.
A major surprise of the season was the return of Hugh Laurie as the infamous arms dealer Richard Roper. His appearance in Episode 3 was kept completely secret from all marketing and promotional material to maximize the impact for viewers. Laurie has expressed a fondness for playing the villain, saying, “I’ll be honest, I love Richard Roper. I probably shouldn’t, but I do”.
New to the cast is Diego Calva as Teddy Dos Santos, a dangerous arms dealer who models himself on Roper and is later revealed to be his son. Camila Morrone plays Roxana Bolaños, a shipping magnate who becomes entangled with both Pine and Teddy.

About The Night Manager Season 2 Story
Season 2 is not an adaptation of a John le Carré novel, as no sequel to the original book exists. Writer David Farr created an original story using the characters from the first series. The plot finds Pine years after the events of Season 1, living under the name Alex Goodwin and running a small surveillance unit for MI6 called the Night Owls.
His quiet life is upended when he is drawn into a new mission targeting Teddy Dos Santos, which requires him to adopt another false identity—Matthew Ellis, a reckless financier. The mission takes him to Colombia, where he crosses paths with Roxana and eventually discovers the shocking return of his old enemy, Richard Roper.
Tom Hiddleston praised Farr’s work, saying, “David Farr has achieved the impossible… David has written it with all the sophistication and complexity that le Carré would approve of and admire”.
