The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is returning for its third season, and fans just got a first look at what’s coming. AMC released a teaser, new photos, and key details about the upcoming season, which will premiere on September 7, 2025.

This season follows Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) as they continue their journey to return home. But instead of getting closer, they find themselves in Spain, facing new dangers and meeting new allies.

What Happens in Season 3?

The new season picks up after the events of The Book of Carol, where Daryl and Carol reunited in France. Now, their journey takes them to Spain, where they must survive in unfamiliar lands.

The official logline says:

“As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.”

Showrunner David Zabel explained that the characters’ nomadic journey keeps the story fresh:

“We loved the reinvigoration we experienced going to France, and we wanted to continue doing that. On a story level, the characters should not settle down. It should be a road show.”

New Cast Members Join The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Season 3

Season 3 introduces several new actors, adding fresh faces to the story. The new cast includes:

  • Eduardo Noriega
  • Óscar Jaenada
  • Alexandra Masangkay

Other actors appearing this season are Candela Saitta, Hugo Arbues, Greta Fernandez, Gonzalo Bouza, Hada Nieto, Yassmine Othman, Cuco Usín, and Stephen Merchant.

First Look and Teaser Details

AMC dropped a 36-second teaser during the season finale of The Walking Dead: Dead City. The preview shows Daryl and Carol in harsh new environments, still fighting to survive.

The teaser’s message is simple but intense:

“The road home is brutal and the fight to survive is far from over.”

Fans also got new photos from the season, including shots of Carol wielding a sword and Daryl in action. The setting shifts from France to Spain, giving the show a fresh visual style with historic landmarks and sun-bleached landscapes.

Why Spain?

Filming took place in Madrid, Galicia, Aragón, Catalonia, and Valencia, with scenes shot at famous locations like La Alhambra and Real Alcázar. The change in location brings a new look to the series while keeping its core survival themes.

Zabel told The Hollywood Reporter:

“They have to keep moving to return home. At the end of season two, they’re going somewhere. It’s not a direct line. The idea is to keep the characters struggling and striving.”

Fan Reactions

Fans are excited about the new season, especially after seeing the teaser. Some reactions include:

“Daryl and Carol’s chemistry is what makes this spin-off special. Hope they don’t drag the France storyline too much though – want to see more of the global zombie apocalypse!”

“The Spain setting sounds interesting. Will we see bullfighting zombies?”

“Norman Reedus is brilliant. Wish they’d explore Asian countries too – imagine zombies in Delhi’s crowded streets!”
