Jimmi Simpson Joins Dead City Season 3 as Dillard

In Dead City season 3, Simpson plays Dillard. Dillard is a lone survivor who runs a bar in New York City. He has survived the apocalypse by himself for many years. The character is described as an eccentric and unusual person. He has a unique way of looking at the world.
Showrunner Seth Hoffman explained the character. He said Dillard is “a flip side to Negan”. Hoffman also said Dillard “ingeniously found a way to survive by himself, but there’s a psychological cost to having been by yourself for all those years”. The character is quirky and unpredictable.
Simpson described his character in a video released by AMC. He said Dillard is like “the weird neighbor that everybody keeps their eye close on because he might invent something that makes life so much easier. But he also might burn the block down”. This shows that Dillard is both helpful and dangerous at the same time.
Negan and Dillard’s Unlikely Friendship Forms at the Bar
The first look at season 3 shows Negan visiting Dillard’s bar. The bar is empty except for Dillard and a few walkers that keep him company. Dillard invites Negan in and gives him a drink. The clip ends with Dillard telling Negan, “Welcome to the bar”.
This meeting marks the start of an unlikely friendship. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is excited about the new dynamic. He said, “My character this year has a new best friend, as does Jeffrey Dean Morgan”. Morgan and Simpson have shown great chemistry in behind-the-scenes moments.
The two characters share common interests. They both love art and video games. They can sit together and forget about the dangerous world outside. This friendship is different from anything Negan has had before. Dillard brings a lighter, sometimes-comical tone to the show.
Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie, also praised Simpson. She called him an “absolute gem” and “one of the greatest gifts” to the show. She said she enjoyed working with Simpson and wished she had more scenes with him. Cohan added that Simpson “takes it off the page and brings such a level of joy”.

These three new characters will shake things up in Manhattan. They will join Maggie and Negan in their fight against New Babylon. The new season promises to bring fresh energy to the series.
Maggie and Negan Finally Become True Allies
