The latest episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3, titled “Found/Lost,” dropped on August 16, 2026. This episode shows Maggie Rhee (Lauren Cohan) and Luis (Raúl Castillo) leaving Manhattan to find much-needed medicine. At the same time, Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) risks his own safety to save a community member named Fabian. The episode moves the story forward by focusing on community building, personal growth, and the constant struggle for survival in a world full of walkers.
Maggie and Luis Search for Medicine Outside Manhattan
The hospital in the Manhattan settlement is running low on medical supplies. Several wounded survivors from Newark and Belleville arrived in earlier episodes, and the hospital team, including Hershel (Logan Kim), is struggling to treat them with what little they have. To solve this problem, Maggie and Luis travel to the mainland to find a survivor known only as the Trader (Folake Olowofoyeku). This person is said to have connections with other communities and travels widely.
When they meet the Trader, Maggie is cautious. She does not fully trust this stranger. Luis, however, has heard stories about the Trader and believes she can help. The Trader agrees to give them morphine and other medical supplies. In exchange, she asks for the blueprints of the methane tanks that the community uses for energy. She also demands their van so she can travel to meet a rocket engineer who can check if the blueprints are real.
Maggie agrees to the deal. She wants to build a better world for people, and she believes giving up the blueprints is worth it to save lives. The Trader is surprised that Maggie is willing to share such dangerous and valuable knowledge. Maggie and Luis stay at the Trader’s cabin while waiting for her to return with the supplies.
During their time together, Maggie and Luis grow closer. They play games, talk about their pasts, and share their hopes for the future. Luis tells Maggie about his late wife, Marisol. He explains that he wants to become the man he should have been for her. He dreams of raising children and building something that matters. Maggie listens and begins to think about her own life. She realizes that her son Hershel is now capable of taking care of himself. For years, protecting Hershel was her only purpose. Now, he is training in medicine and taking responsibility for patients. This does not mean Maggie will abandon him. It means she can now think about a life beyond being a mother.
Negan Saves Fabian While Protecting the Community
Back in Manhattan, Negan stays behind with Hershel, Renata (Aimee Garcia), Dillard (Jimmi Simpson), and Fabian (Michael Emery). Their job is to collect walkers for the methane tanks and help build a wall around the compound. Fabian, a former resident of the Bricks, complains constantly. He feels he is getting fewer resources since the community opened its doors to newcomers. He demands more benefits for his work.
Despite Fabian’s negative attitude, Negan saves his life. A walker breaks free and tries to bite Fabian. Negan steps in and stops the walker, putting himself at risk. Renata notices Negan’s actions. She later tells him that he is a valuable asset to the community. She offers him the last empty apartment in the settlement. However, she sets clear rules: no killing humans. She also mentions that she knows he killed the Dama, but she will keep quiet because he is worth it.
Negan feels uncomfortable with the praise. At the start of Season 3, he wanted to isolate himself from the community. But he keeps doing the opposite. He protects the construction workers and risks his life to save others. His actions show that he is changing, even if he does not want to admit it. In a recent interview, Jeffrey Dean Morgan said that Season 2 of Dead City was difficult for him. He felt that Negan had lost his charisma and was always crying. He even called AMC to say he could not continue like that. The conversation led to changes in the show’s direction, and Season 3 has brought back Negan’s humor and energy.
The Earthquake Brings a New Crisis to the Community
Episode 4 ends with a major disaster. An earthquake strikes Manhattan. The earthquake destroys a large portion of the community’s food supply. This is a huge problem because the community has grown. Many new survivors have joined after the Statue of Liberty was lit up. Feeding everyone will now be very difficult.
The earthquake also affects Maggie personally. While fighting off walkers after the quake, she loses her wedding ring. The ring was a symbol of her connection to Glenn, her late husband. Losing it forces her to face the fact that she needs to let go of the past. The episode also shows Maggie and Luis sharing a kiss. This suggests that Maggie may be ready to move forward and find new love.
The Episode Title “Found/Lost” Has Multiple Meanings
The title “Found/Lost” fits the episode in several ways. Maggie and Luis find the medicine they need, but they lose a large part of their food supply. Maggie finds a new sense of purpose, but she loses her wedding ring. She finds a possible new relationship with Luis, but she must let go of Glenn’s memory. The community finds new members, but they lose their sense of security.
“Maggie losing her wedding ring while fighting off walkers right after the quake further symbolizes the start of something new in her story.”
