The cost of jumping through the pond is catching up to Alice in a major way. The latest episode of the Hallmark series shows her losing the people she loves simply because she cannot stop time.

‘The Way Home’ Season 4 Episode 3, titled “Dust in the Wind,” aired on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at 9 PM ET on the Hallmark Channel. In a season that is already the show’s last, the drama is getting harder to watch for fans of the Landry family. While the other characters are chasing mysteries, Alice (Sadie Laflamme-Snow) is facing a reality that hurts more than any family secret: she is watching her life fall apart because she can’t keep up with time.

Alice Realizes She Can’t Keep Appearing and Disappearing

For Alice, time travel used to be an adventure. But in this episode, it becomes a curse. When she jumps back to the late 1970s to visit her friends Evelyn and Cole, she realizes something terrible has happened. Two full years have passed since her last visit.

In those two years, Evelyn had her baby, Louis. Alice missed the birth. She missed the hard days and the happy days. She realizes that if she keeps jumping, she will keep missing the most important moments of their lives.

She understands that her friends will eventually start asking questions. How is she not getting older? Why does she disappear for years at a time and come back looking exactly the same? It is a conversation she cannot have without revealing the secret of the pond. Because she loves them, Alice makes the painful choice to step back. She knows she cannot return to that time period again. It is a quiet but devastating goodbye to people she truly cared about.

A Love Triangle Grows While Noah Leaves Town

Back in the present day (2026), Alice’s life is also changing faster than she wants. Her current boyfriend, Noah, drops a huge piece of news. He plans to move several hours away from Port Haven to open a new restaurant. This news changes the energy between Alice and her friends.

As Noah prepares to leave, Alice finds herself getting closer to Max. The two share an almost-kiss near the pond. Max playfully pushes her toward the water, creating a moment that is full of tension and confusion for Alice. With Noah leaving and Max moving in, Alice feels like the ground is shifting under her feet. The episode makes it clear that even when she stays in her own time, she cannot stop people from moving on with their lives.

Kat Gets Arrested in the 1920s

While Alice deals with her heartache, Kat (Chyler Leigh) is having a much more dangerous adventure. She travels back to the 1920s looking for more answers about Elliot’s mother, Tessa. She finds herself at a secret bar (a speakeasy) with Fern.

Kat overhears a dangerous plan by the Augustine brothers. They are talking about targeting someone. Before Kat can figure out what to do, something shocking happens. Fern spikes Kat’s drink. Kat passes out almost immediately.

When she wakes up, she is in a jail cell. A raid led by Officer Kane has taken place. Kat has no idea why Fern drugged her or why she is now locked up. It seems like Fern was trying to “protect” Kat from the raid, but now Kat is in serious trouble in a time period that is not her own.

Elliot Learns Hard Truths About His Mom and Brings Up Having Kids

Elliot (Evan Williams) has a lot to deal with in this episode. His father, Vic (James Gallanders), returns to Port Haven after his honeymoon. Vic sits down with Elliot and shares more about Tessa. Vic insists that Tessa truly did love their son. He also reveals that he received a letter from Tessa implying that her “time was coming to an end” and that he got a family ring back.

Elliot struggles with this. He tells Kat that he is not sure he wants to find his mom anymore. “Maybe I don’t want definitive answers,” he admits in a vulnerable moment. He is scared that the real Tessa might be worse than the “make-believe” version he has in his head.

Later, Elliot and Kat have a very serious conversation about their future. Elliot tells Kat he wants to have children. Kat is caught completely off guard by this. She does not say no, but she asks to talk about it later. The conversation hangs in the air as the episode ends, showing that even a stable couple like Elliot and Kat are not safe from life’s rapid changes.
