Titled Struck, the episode followed Colter Shaw as he traveled to Buffalo, New York, to find a missing husband named Finn Helms. The episode also pushed forward the season-long mystery about Colter’s father’s murder. Randy uncovered new information linking Ashton Shaw to a work trip in Alaska just months before his death.

Main Cast Members Who Returned for Episode 16

Justin Hartley led the episode as Colter Shaw, the rewardist who tracks missing people for cash. In this episode, Colter helped an eight-month pregnant woman find her husband while also digging into his father’s past. He learned that Ashton took a work trip to Alaska with a co-worker named David Pearson four months before his murder, adding a new layer to the mystery.

Chris Lee returned as Randy, one of Colter’s most trusted team members. Randy proved his value again by digging into both the missing person case and Colter’s father’s murder. He hacked into Finn’s PowerUp account to find messages between Finn and his stalker. He also uncovered the Alaska trip information that could help Colter solve his father’s case.

Fiona Rene appeared as Reenie Greene, who dealt with her own personal storyline in this episode. Reenie reunited with Mark, a man she had a one-night stand with in a previous episode. She initially turned down his dinner invitation but later showed up at his hotel room, suggesting she might be ready to move forward after dealing with her PTSD.

Cassady McClincy Zhang joined the cast as Melanie “Mel” Day, Reenie’s new assistant. Mel pushed Reenie to accept Mark’s invitation and shared that she used to run track to cope with grief after her mother died. She tore her ACL and had to stop, which helped her understand Reenie’s struggle with avoiding emotional pain.

Guest Stars Who Brought the Case to Life

Chad Michael Collins played Finn Helms, the missing handyman and soon-to-be father. Finn lost his job two months before the episode but kept it secret from his pregnant wife. He took odd jobs through an app called PowerUp, which led him into a dangerous situation. His ex-girlfriend Adelle abducted him after he was shot during a job gone wrong.

Natalie Jane played Grace Helms, Finn’s eight-month pregnant wife. She offered $10,000 to Colter to find her missing husband. Grace showed Colter the baby’s room that Finn built himself to prove how much he wanted their child. At the end of the episode, Colter refused the reward money and told her to put it toward the baby’s college fund.

Lyndon Smith portrayed Adelle Mucino, Finn’s obsessed ex-girlfriend. Adelle had a history of stalking and had been locked up in a psychiatric facility. She hired Finn through PowerUp to reconnect with him, then ran him over with her truck after Paolo shot him. She kept Finn tied to a bed in a rental house and planned to kill Grace so she could have Finn for herself. When her plan failed, she tried to jump from a bridge, but Colter caught her hand just in time.

Robert Daprocida played Paolo, the man who hired Finn for the electrical job. After one of his men died from electrocution, Paolo shot Finn to stop him from calling the police. Adelle then hit Paolo with her truck, breaking his leg.

Paul du Toit played Kelly, Finn’s former supervisor who fired him two months earlier for stealing items from job sites.

Sean Savoy played Doyle, Finn’s former co-worker who told Colter about the PowerUp app and gave him the address of Finn’s last job.

Cesare Scarpone played Mark, Reenie’s former one-night stand who turned out to be a brand representative for a mezcal company.

What Happened in the Episode

The episode opened with an injured Finn begging for his life. Grace contacted Randy, who brought in Colter to find her missing husband. Colter went to Finn’s former workplace and learned he had been fired. A co-worker named Doyle told Colter about the PowerUp app, where Finn found side jobs.

Colter went to the address of Finn’s last job and found a ladder, toolbox, and Finn’s van. He climbed the ladder and saw melted rubber, indicating someone was electrocuted. A security camera showed two men putting a body into a truck. Colter tracked the truck to the woods, where he found two men digging a grave. The dead man was not Finn but a random worker who touched a transformer.

The men told Colter that Paolo hired them for the job and convinced Finn not to call the cops. Paolo then took Finn to his building and shot him. But before Paolo could finish the job, a woman in a truck hit him and took Finn.

Randy hacked Finn’s PowerUp account and found personal messages between Finn and Adelle Mucino. They had dated three years earlier when Finn and Grace were on a break. Adelle had a history of stalking and had been in a psychiatric facility.

Colter went to Adelle’s house and found fake wedding invitations, a journal about Finn, and a framed photo with Grace’s face replaced with Adelle’s. He realized Adelle was holding Finn prisoner at a rental property she managed.

Colter broke into the rental house and freed Finn from the bed where Adelle had tied him. Meanwhile, Adelle went to Grace’s house and tricked her into leaving by claiming she knew where Finn was. She took Grace to a bridge that held special meaning from her first date with Finn.

At the bridge, Adelle held Grace at gunpoint and ordered her to climb onto the railing. Finn arrived with Colter and told Adelle he loved Grace more than anything. Adelle climbed onto the railing and tried to jump, but Colter grabbed her hand and pulled her to safety. Police sirens were heard in the background as Adelle faced the consequences of her actions.

The episode ended with Finn and Grace safe at home. Colter gave them a wooden owl he carved for the baby and refused the reward money. Randy then told Colter he found evidence that Ashton and David Pearson went to Alaska together four months before Ashton died, with government subcontractors in the area at the same time. Colter said, “I know what I have to do.”
