Tracker Season 4 will premiere on Sunday, October 4, 2026, marking the earliest return in the show’s history. Justin Hartley returns as reward-seeker Colter Shaw, and the new season brings a major production move from Vancouver to Los Angeles, a promoted cast member, and the continuation of the Shaw family mystery. Tracker Season 4 Premiere Date And Time Slot
Tracker Season 4 premieres on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 9:30 PM ET on CBS in the United States. The premiere follows the Season 2 debut of Marshals, the Yellowstone spinoff series.
Starting Sunday, October 11, Tracker moves to its regular 9 PM ET/PT timeslot and will air weekly in that slot. CBS confirmed that the 9:30 PM premiere time is a one-time change for the season opener.
This marks the earliest premiere for Tracker. Season 1 debuted in February 2024 after Super Bowl LVIII, drawing 18.4 million viewers for its series premiere. Seasons 2 and 3 both returned in mid-October. The entire CBS 2026-2027 TV cycle begins earlier than previous years, which moved up the Tracker premiere date.
Production Moves From Vancouver To Los Angeles
Tracker Season 4 relocated its production from Vancouver to Los Angeles, a significant change for the series. The move came after CBS secured a $48 million California tax credit through the expansion of the state’s Film and Television Tax Credit Program.
Justin Hartley, who also serves as an executive producer, spoke about the change:
“I’m proud of what we built in Vancouver. I’m also very excited we’re bringing Tracker to L.A. I’m looking forward to continuing to tell these stories alongside the new, fresh places we’ll be heading to next. Most importantly, I want to thank the fans for showing up for us every step of the way. We couldn’t do this without you.”
Showrunner Elwood Reid also shared his thoughts on the relocation:
“Location is a huge part of the storytelling on Tracker. We’re so grateful to the crew and people of Vancouver who made the first three seasons of this hit drama possible, and are simultaneously thrilled to be able to kick off the fourth season of Tracker by filming in Los Angeles, thanks to the tax incentive program that supports bringing production back to California.”
Production on Season 4 began in June 2026 in Los Angeles.
Cast Changes For Season 4
Cassady McClincy Zhang has been promoted to series regular for Season 4. The 26-year-old actress joined the show as Mel, Reenie Greene’s assistant at her law office, during Season 3. Her character was introduced with a mysterious past.
Zhang joins Justin Hartley, Fiona Rene, and Chris Lee as the four series regulars for Season 4. When Tracker premiered in 2024, there were five regulars. Robin Weigert left at the end of Season 1, while Abby McEnany and Eric Graise did not return for Season 3.
Jensen Ackles will return as Russell Shaw, Colter’s older brother. Hartley confirmed the return at the Televerse 2026 panel in Los Angeles on August 16, saying, “He’s coming back. He’ll be here [on set] next week”. Ackles’ character ended Season 3 by making a deal with McIntyre without Colter’s knowledge.
Story Setup After Season 3 Finale
Tracker Season 3 ended on May 24, 2026, with two major reveals. The finale, titled “The Best Ones,” finally showed Colter Shaw’s secret home base — a private property with a massive garage and plenty of land. Keaton, played by Brent Sexton, was the first person to visit Colter at his home.
The bigger reveal involved Russell Shaw discovering something major about their father, Ashton Shaw, that Colter does not know. Russell left at the end of Season 3 and is set to return in Season 4.
Justin Hartley described the new season in an interview:
“We have spent the first three years unpacking this story about what happened to Colter’s father — who was involved, who wasn’t involved — and that’s changed throughout the course of the show. First being that Colter thought his brother was involved, because his mother told him as much. Come to find out, that’s not necessarily the case. So all of that kind of comes to a head and we get some answers to all that stuff at the end of Season 3.”
Hartley also said Season 4 will be the show’s “most ambitious” season yet, with deeper character backstories.
Ratings And Episode Count
Tracker has maintained strong ratings since its 2024 debut. The show averaged 8 million live viewers per episode across its first three seasons. Season 3 averaged around 8.08 million viewers, making it one of the most-watched dramas on the network. When multi-platform viewing over 35 days is included, the show averages over 16 million viewers per episode.
Tracker was the most-watched scripted drama on network television until spring 2026, when Marshals became the most-watched show across broadcast and streaming.
Season 4 is expected to follow the 22-episode pattern of Season 3, though CBS has not officially announced the exact episode count.
