The wait is almost over for fans of the sarcastic isekai hero. Kadokawa officially released the first promotional video (PV) and key visual for Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs Season 2 on April 22, 2026. The new footage confirms the anime will return in July 2026 on television networks across Japan.

This announcement comes nearly four years after the first season premiered in April 2022. The new promotional material gives viewers a proper look at what to expect when the series returns.

Leon Returns With the Full Cast in the New Trailer

The new trailer does more than just show new footage. It starts by recapping important events from the first season, helping viewers remember where the story left off. The video then moves to new content featuring the floating island of the elves, where Leon and his friends will go on their next adventure.

Takeo Otsuka returns as the voice of Leon Fou Bartfort, the office worker reincarnated into a tough otome game world. The full main cast is also coming back. Kana Ichinose voices Olivia, Fairouz Ai is Angelica Rapha Redgrave, Ayane Sakura plays Marie Fou Lafan, and Akira Ishida returns as the AI ship Luxion.

The supporting cast is also returning. Kenichi Suzumura, Kosuke Toriumi, Shinnosuke Tachibana, Koji Yusa, and Nobuyuki Hiyama will all reprise their roles as the five former romance targets who lost to Leon in the first season.

The new key visual, drawn by character designer Masahiko Suzuki, shows Leon standing between Olivia and Angelica. Both women are holding his arms. A mysterious figure watches the trio from a window nearby.

Studio ENGI Brings Back the Creative Team for Season 2

The production team for the second season remains mostly the same. Kazuya Miura returns as director at Studio ENGI. He previously co-directed the first season with Shinichi Fukumoto. For season 2, Miura is handling directing duties alone.

Kenta Ihara is back to handle series composition. Masahiko Suzuki returns as character designer and chief animation director. The music is again being made by Kana Hashiguchi and Show Aratame.

There are some new additions to the production team. Tetsuya Watanabe joins as CG director, and Shinichi Komeya takes over as compositing director of photography. These changes suggest the show might have some visual updates while keeping its core style.

The franchise has sold more than 4.5 million copies of its light novels and manga adaptations. This number shows how popular the series has become since it first started.

What to Expect From the New Season’s Story

The story follows Leon, an office worker who dies and wakes up in the world of an otome game he played in his past life. He is stuck as a minor background character called a “mob.” Women rule this world, and only handsome men have power. Leon knows how the game works, so he uses this knowledge to change his fate.

At the end of the first season, Leon found a hidden treasure and helped stop an enemy fleet. He was promoted to the rank of viscount for his actions. In season 2, Leon gets orders to join Marie’s personal guard. Marie has become a saint, and Leon must travel with her to an island where elves live.

The tagline on the new key visual asks: “Can love save this world?” This question hints at more emotional and relationship-focused conflicts coming in the new season.

Streaming details for global audiences are still being confirmed. The first season is available on Crunchyroll with both subtitles and an English dub. Season 2 will likely stream on the same platform when it releases in July, though official confirmation is pending.
