What’s New in Season 3?

The official description for the new season sets the stage for higher stakes. It states that as Dwight’s empire expands, so do his enemies and the risks to his crew. This season, he faces his most dangerous adversaries in Tulsa yet: the Dunmires, a powerful old-money family that does not play by the same old-world rules Dwight is used to. This forces him to fight for everything he has built and to protect his new family.

This new threat is led by Robert Patrick, who plays Jeremiah Dunmire, the head of the Dunmire family. Furthermore, this season introduces a major new character played by Samuel L. Jackson. He plays Russell Lee Washington Jr., and his appearance on the show will set the stage for his own planned spinoff series, NOLA King.

The season picks up right after the shocking events of the season 2 finale, where Dwight was abducted by masked gunmen from the home of his love interest, Margaret. The premiere episode, titled “Blood and Bourbon,” immediately addresses this cliffhanger.
