Hallmark Channel’s Villa Amore takes viewers on a romantic journey through Italy. The movie, starring Eloise Mumford and Kevin McGarry, was filmed in stunning locations across Rome and its surroundings. Fans of the film can now explore where the magical backdrops were captured.
The story follows Liara, who buys a rundown villa in Italy after a breakup. She soon realizes the property needs major repairs and hires Leo, a lawyer-turned-handyman, to help. As they restore the villa, love blossoms against Italy’s picturesque scenery.
Filming Locations of Villa Amore
Most of Villa Amore was shot in Rome, Italy, with additional scenes in nearby areas. The production team chose authentic Italian settings to bring the story to life.
1. Ostia Antica (Lazio Region, Near Rome)
The interior scenes of the villa were filmed in Ostia Antica, an ancient town east of Rome. Known for its well-preserved Roman ruins, the location added historical charm to the film. The crew also included local touches like gelato stands and Italian markets to enhance the setting.
2. Rome’s Countryside (Lazio Region)
The exterior shots of the villa featured terraced gardens, a courtyard, and a vineyard. These scenes were likely filmed in the Lazio countryside, known for its rolling hills, olive groves, and rustic farmhouses. While Hallmark hasn’t confirmed the exact spot, the landscapes match typical Italian countryside views.
3. Iconic Rome Landmarks
Several famous Roman landmarks appear in the movie. These include:
- The Spanish Steps – A key backdrop for romantic scenes.
- Trevi Fountain – Featured in emotional moments.
- Piazza Navona – Used for lively market and café scenes.
- Pantheon – Added historical depth to the film.
The crew also filmed at Antico Forno Roscioli, a famous bakery, and Il Mio Salumiere, a local butcher shop. These spots gave the movie an authentic Italian feel.
