VisionQuest Episode 3 has given Marvel fans a major piece of information about Doctor Strange and his role in Avengers: Doomsday. The episode, titled “Reboot,” dropped on Disney+ on October 20, 2026 alongside Episode 4. A monologue from F.R.I.D.A.Y. addressed a popular fan theory about Strange lying to Tony Stark in Avengers: Infinity War. At the same time, a separate leak about a masked figure called Boris continues to suggest Strange may not be on the heroes’ side when Doomsday arrives.

F.R.I.D.A.Y. Confirms Strange Told the Truth

The episode featured F.R.I.D.A.Y., voiced by Orla Brady, recalling the day Tony Stark died in Avengers: Endgame. She spoke to E.D.I.T.H., voiced by Emily Hampshire, about the trauma of failing to save Stark’s life. F.R.I.D.A.Y. confirmed that she ran countless scenarios to find a way for Stark to survive, but no winning path existed.

That detail matters because of a theory that grew after Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Victor von Doom in July 2024. Some fans believed Strange saw a future where Doom wore Stark’s face and chose to hide that from Stark, effectively sending him to his death. F.R.I.D.A.Y.’s account rules out that idea. Strange did not lie about the single winning future. He told Stark the truth about the odds.

The Boris Leak Keeps Strange in the Villain Conversation

Clearing Strange of one lie does not clear him of a larger turn. Leaks about Avengers: Doomsday have pointed to a masked male character named Boris. Fans believe Boris is Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange because the mask is said to have three eye holes, a detail tied to Strange’s mystical abilities.

The last time viewers saw Strange was in the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. He left with Clea to fix an incursion she said he caused. No official MCU project has explained what happened next. That gap has allowed rumors to build that Strange and Clea met Doom and chose to join him.

Avengers: Doomsday is expected to follow a two-part structure similar to Infinity War and Endgame. Leaks suggest Doom will win at the end of Doomsday and rewrite reality, setting the stage for Avengers: Secret Wars. If Boris is Strange, his role could be central to that victory.

Cumberbatch’s Own Comments Add to the Uncertainty

Benedict Cumberbatch has spoken about his MCU schedule in ways that leave the door open for a Doomsday appearance. He previously suggested Strange would sit out Doomsday and return for Secret Wars, and he later appeared to confirm he would be in Doomsday after all. The actor has also avoided giving a clear yes or no, which keeps the speculation alive.

The VisionQuest Finale Could Set Up More Doomsday Pieces

VisionQuest runs for eight episodes and finishes on November 10, 2026, about a month before Avengers: Doomsday reaches theaters. The series has already linked itself to the larger MCU through small details, including a “Countdown to Doom” label spotted on a TV set inside Ultron’s mind space.

Rumors also connect Wanda Maximoff to Doomsday through a group of masked Latverian Witches seen in promotional material. Wanda has not appeared on screen since Multiverse of Madness, and VisionQuest has kept her presence in the story through Vision and Tommy Maximoff. None of these links have been officially confirmed by Marvel Studios.
