Netflix is making the third season of Wednesday bigger with some famous faces. The streaming service just announced three new actors joining the show. Lena Headey from Game of Thrones, James Lance from Ted Lasso, and Andrew McCarthy from Pretty in Pink are now part of the cast. Production is already happening near Dublin, Ireland, and the new season will bring many surprises to Nevermore Academy.
Three Big Names Join Jenna Ortega at Nevermore Academy
The new cast members will appear in guest roles, but Netflix has not shared details about their characters. The announcement says they will be part of Nevermore Academy as the school welcomes new teachers and students.
Lena Headey played Cersei Lannister on Game of Thrones for all eight seasons. Her performance earned her five Emmy Award nominations. She also starred in movies like 300, Dredd, and The Purge. Headey has a new film called Ballistic coming to theaters on April 17, 2026.
James Lance is known for playing Trent Crimm on Ted Lasso. His work on the Apple TV series got him Emmy and SAG Award nominations. Andrew McCarthy starred in 1980s movies like St. Elmo’s Fire, Pretty in Pink, and Weekend at Bernie’s. He also directed episodes of Orange is the New Black and The Blacklist.
Winona Ryder and Eva Green Already Confirmed for Season 3
These three new names join a cast list that already includes several big stars. Winona Ryder from Stranger Things and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice joined the season earlier. She will play a character named Tabitha. Eva Green will play Ophelia Frump, Morticia Addams’ sister. Chris Sarandon, who voiced Jack Skellington in The Nightmare Before Christmas, is also part of the new season.
Creators Al Gough and Miles Millar shared their excitement about the new season.
“As Season 3 begins production, we once again open the gates of Nevermore with dark delight. This season will welcome new students, new teachers, and dig up some long-rotting Addams Family secrets.”
Tim Burton, who directs and produces the show, also talked about the new additions.
“I’m so excited to be back for Season 3 and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky.”
Returning Cast Members and Production Updates
The main cast members are all coming back. Jenna Ortega returns as Wednesday Addams. Catherine Zeta-Jones is back as Morticia Addams, and Luis Guzmán returns as Gomez Addams. Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), Joy Sunday (Bianca Barclay), and Moosa Mostafa (Eugene Ottinger) are also returning. Billie Piper, Joanna Lumley, and Fred Armisen will reprise their roles from season two.
Filming started on February 23, 2026, near Dublin, Ireland. Production is expected to continue through summer 2026. Season one of Wednesday still holds the record as Netflix’s most watched English-language show of all time. Season two, which came out in late 2025, became the fifth most watched English-language show on the platform.
The third season will not arrive in 2026. Netflix left Wednesday out of its 2026 TV lineup announcement. The show will likely return sometime in 2027.
