A new series mixing horror and comedy is coming to Apple TV. Widow’s Bay will debut globally in April 2026, starring Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys as a mayor who discovers his small town’s dark secrets. The show released its first look and a short teaser on December 16, 2025.

What is Widow’s Bay About?

The story is set in a small island town located 40 miles off the coast of New England. Matthew Rhys plays Mayor Tom Loftis, a leader who is desperate to improve his struggling community. The town has problems like no Wi-Fi and poor phone service. The local people believe the island is cursed, but Mayor Loftis does not believe them.

He is determined to build a better future for his teenage son and turn the island into a place tourists want to visit. His plans work, and tourists start to arrive. Unfortunately, the locals were right about the curse. After many quiet years, strange and frightening events from old stories begin to happen again. The show is described as a mix of real horror and character-focused comedy.
