The March 10 episode of Will Trent delivered a tense and emotional hour where the Georgia Bureau of Investigation team cracked a case tied to a university fraternity, while Faith Mitchell reached a breaking point in her career. Episode 10, titled “You’re Only as Sick as Your Secrets,” also set the stage for a deeply personal journey for Will in the upcoming Episode 11.
The Campus Murders: A Case with Deep Roots
The episode opened with a disturbing discovery at Georgia Atlantic University. Two college students found the body of Paxton Cole, a fraternity golden boy, in a campus fountain. He was in his underwear, with duct tape over his mouth bearing the word “Loyalty.” Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) and his team soon found a second victim, Greg “Sharkey” Sharkins, stuffed in a cooler near an off-campus beer store, with “Fortitude” written on his tape .
As Will, Faith Mitchell (Iantha Richardson), Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen), Michael Ormewood (Jake McLaughlin), and Franklin Wilks (Kevin Daniels) dug deeper, they discovered the murders were linked to a hazing incident from a year earlier. A pledge named Barry Evers had died during a fraternity ritual, and his death was covered up. The killer turned out to be Sean, the fraternity president and son of the university’s chancellor. Sean had been in a secret relationship with Barry and was taking revenge on the brothers he held responsible for his lover’s death .
Angie’s instincts proved vital during the investigation. While at the fraternity house, she used a fake pregnancy scare to get Sean to open up. Later, she found Polaroids of Sean and Barry hidden under his bed, along with a prescription for alprazolam that matched the drugs found in the victims. Her discovery led to a tense confrontation in the attic, where Sean was about to kill another pledge before Angie stopped him .
Faith’s Emotional Crossroads
While the team solved the case, the emotional core of the episode centered on Faith. Throughout the hour, she received another letter from Fulton County Jail, sent by Malcolm (DeVaughn Nixon), the man she helped arrest earlier this season. Faith had been stuffing these letters unopened into a drawer, clearly struggling with the aftermath of putting away someone she cared about .
After the case wrapped up, Faith had a raw and honest conversation with Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn). Looking at Amanda’s long career and the personal costs that came with it, Faith opened up about her own doubts. “I don’t know if I can do this job anymore,” she admitted. Amanda, listening quietly, simply asked Faith to tell her what was in her heart. The scene ended with Faith putting the letters back in her drawer, still unread, leaving her future with the GBI uncertain .
Actress Iantha Richardson, who also made her directorial debut this season, spoke to TV Insider about whether Faith might ever reconnect with Malcolm. “I don’t think so. I don’t know. I won’t say there’s an absolute no, because obviously I’m not the writers, but I think she had on rose-colored glasses, and those take a long time to untint,” Richardson said. She explained that with time, Faith might see the situation differently, but for now, the pain is too fresh .
Angie and Seth Navigate Parenthood Prep
Away from the crime scene, Angie and her fiancé Seth McDale (Scott Foley) continued preparing for their new baby. Seth, a medical examiner, was struggling with severe new-dad anxiety. He had baby-proofed their nursery so aggressively that a bolted drawer pulled an entire cabinet off the wall. Angie, showing her signature mix of tough love and support, got on the floor with him and reminded him that between his medical knowledge and her law enforcement skills, their child would be just fine. She even invited Will to join them at a lecture on human parasites, a subject Seth found soothing.
