Marvelโs oddball superhero comedy Wonder Man is officially coming back for a second season on Disney+, and creator Andrew Guest is promising more of the same offbeat humor that made the first season a hit.
The show, starring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as a struggling actor with superpowers and Ben Kingsley as his washed-up actor friend, surprised everyone by earning strong reviews and finding a loyal audience. Now that Season 2 has been confirmed, fans can breathe easy knowing the show wonโt suddenly turn into a typical action-packed superhero series.
Showrunner Promises Wonder Man Season 2 Stays True to Its Roots
Guest recently spoke about what viewers can expect from the new episodes. His message was simple: if you loved the first season for being different, you will be happy.
โThe people who like this show and like it because it feels different are going to be rewarded,โ Guest told The Hollywood Reporter. โAnd the people who think that this show is going to suddenly turn into something else, Iโm sorry to say, itโs not.โ
He confirmed that Wonder Man Season 2 will stick to the same formula. The focus stays on the unusual friendship between Simon and Trevor and their struggles inside the entertainment industry. The superhero elements are there, but they never take over the story.
โSimon still has super powers. It is still about this relationship, about two artists, and our industry. That is essentially what we want to maintain,โ Guest added.

Simon and Trevorโs Friendship Remains the Heart of Wonder Man Season 2
The unexpected friendship between Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley) carried the first season. Two broken men trying to restart their careers found comfort in each other. That relationship will stay at the center of the show.
Season 1 ended with Trevor going to prison for destroying a building during one of Simonโs power outbursts. Simon broke him out using his flight abilities for the first time. Season 2 will deal with the fallout from that choice.

Both actors are confirmed to return. Marvel announced the renewal in March 2026, and the entire main cast is coming back. The chemistry between Abdul-Mateen II and Kingsley received praise from critics and audiences, and the creators want to build on that strength.
Bigger World But Smaller Stakes for Wonder Man Season 2
Donโt expect Wonder Man Season 2 to turn into a typical Marvel save-the-world story. The showrunner wants to keep things grounded, but that doesnโt mean nothing changes.
Simonโs powers are no longer a secret. The Department of Damage Control knows what he can do. That creates new problems for him. Can he keep acting? Will the government try to control him? These are the kinds of conflicts the show wants to explore.

The stakes will feel more personal. Success, guilt, and the price of fame seem to be the main themes for the upcoming season. The show will also revisit loose ends from Season 1, including the fate of Josh Gadโs character who got trapped inside Doorman.
Guest joked earlier that if Season 2 happens, his โpromise is to get Josh Gad out of Door Man, and back into the world.โ
