The upcoming anime series Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games dropped its second teaser trailer, revealing a July 7, 2026 premiere date along with new cast details and the opening theme song.
The latest promotional video gives fans a fresh look at the animated adaptation of Eri Ejima’s manga, which follows students at an elite girls’ academy who hide their passion for competitive fighting games.
Second Teaser Trailer Arrives
The new teaser PV, released on April 30, 2026, showcases more action sequences from the series produced by studio diomedéa. The video also features the first listen of the opening theme song performed by the all-girl rock band HANABIE.
The track is titled “Inochi Mijikashi Taisuru Otome yo!” (Life is Short, Fight Each Other, Maidens) and matches the series’ mix of refined school life and intense gaming battles.

A new cast member announcement came with the teaser. Aru, an active esports play-by-play commentator and tournament organizer, will voice the character Flamberge. In the anime, Flamberge serves as a well-known announcer who provides live commentary at official fighting game tournaments.
The full main cast includes:

Streaming and Broadcast Details
Young Ladies Don’t Play Fighting Games will begin airing on July 7, 2026 across multiple Japanese networks including AT-X, Tokyo MX, MBS, BS NTV, and Nagasaki Broadcasting Company. Streaming details for international audiences have not been announced yet, but the series is expected to be available on major platforms following the Japanese broadcast.
The anime was originally scheduled for a 2025 release but was delayed to 2026. The production committee announced the postponement in late 2025, citing scheduling coordination with all relevant parties.
What the Series Is About
The story centers on Kuromi Girls’ Academy, an elegant school that expects proper behavior from its students. Aya Mitsuki attends on a scholarship and looks up to her fellow student Shirayuri, who seems like the perfect young lady. But Shirayuri hides a secret—she is a ruthless, trash-talking fighting game enthusiast. The series follows how these two girls connect through their shared interest in competitive gaming.
Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English version of the manga and describes the series as a story about a potential friendship growing from an unusual shared hobby.
Production Team Behind the Anime
The anime brings together a solid production team. Shota Ihata (Domestic Girlfriend, Girlish Number) directs the series at diomedéa. Wataru Watari (My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU novels) handles series composition. Mayuko Matsumoto designs the characters, and Kana Hashiguchi composes the music.
