Chainsaw Man Part 2 has taken readers on a wild, confusing, and often heartbreaking ride since it began. With creator Tatsuki Fujimoto now bringing the second part of the manga to a closeโ€”the final chapter is scheduled for March 24, 2026โ€”fans are looking back at all the loose threads that still need tying up.

While Part 1 was a tight, emotional rollercoaster that wrapped up most of its major mysteries in 97 chapters, Part 2 has taken a different approach. It has introduced new characters, new devils, and new questions while leaving many old ones unanswered. As the series hurtles toward its conclusion, here are the 10 biggest questions Chainsaw Man Part 2 still hasn’t answered.

What Lies at the End of Asa’s Dark Alley Dream

One of the most intriguing mysteries in Part 2 involves Asa Mitaka’s recurring nightmare. In Chapter 110, readers saw Asa walking down a dark alley filled with dead chickens. As she moves further into the darkness, the chickens multiply, and she approaches utter blacknessโ€”but always wakes up before reaching the end.

This is clearly meant to mirror Denji’s door dream from Part 1, which hid the repressed memory of him killing his father. The chickens likely represent her guilt over killing her class pet, Bucky the chicken, but the darkness at the end of the alley suggests something much darker.

Given how the chickens multiply as she moves further down the alley, the darkness Asa is heading towards likely represents a repressed memory of her ultimate guilt, just like Denji’s door.

With both of Asa’s parents dying in a devil attack, many fans believe she may be hiding a memory of being responsible for their deaths. As Part 2 wraps up, will Asa finally reach the end of that alley and face whatever truth is hiding there?

What Exactly Can Chainsaw Man Erase and How Does It Work

Part 1 established that Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil, has the terrifying ability to erase concepts from existence by devouring devils. When he eats a devil, the fear that devil represents disappears from the world. Makima explained that nuclear weapons were erased this way, which is why World War II ended differently in the Chainsaw Man universe.

But Part 2 has only made this power more confusing. In Chapter 209, Yoru suddenly remembers nuclear weapons and declares they are backโ€”even though Pochita never visibly vomited up the Nuclear Weapons Devil. This raises huge questions.

If humanity can simply recreate erased concepts, what does erasure even mean? Are the Four Horsemen different from Primal Devils because they are tied to human civilization rather than timeless fears? And if nuclear weapons can return without Pochita vomiting them up, what else might come back? The rules of Chainsaw Man’s most terrifying power remain frustratingly vague.

Why Did Pochita Fight the Four Horsemen Originally

Back in Part 1, Makima revealed that she and the other Horsemenโ€”War, Famine, and Deathโ€”once fought Pochita in hell. That fight led to Pochita being wounded and fleeing to Earth, where he eventually met Denji.

But we still do not know why that fight happened. What did the Horsemen want with Pochita? Was he a threat to them, or were they trying to use his power for something? Fami’s actions in Part 2 suggest the Horsemen have their own agenda involving Chainsaw Man, but the full story remains a mystery.

With the Death Devil finally appearing in the final chapters, fans are hoping for a flashback or explanation of that legendary battle.

Who Are the Weapon Hybrids Really

The Weapon Hybridsโ€”Reze (Bomb), Quanxi (Crossbow), Katana Man, and the othersโ€”have been a major part of Chainsaw Man since Part 1. They were introduced as Makima’s pawns, but their origins remain unclear.

How does someone become a Weapon Hybrid? Are they made, or born? Why do they retain their human personalities more than regular fiends? And most importantly for Part 2, why has Reze not appeared yet?

The Chainsaw Man: The Movie โ€” Reze Arc recently reminded fans just how important Reze was to Denji’s character development. Her absence in Part 2 has been glaring, especially when all the other Weapon Hybrids have shown up. Is Fujimoto saving her for a dramatic final return, or has she been completely written out of the story?

What Is Fami’s Real Goal

Fami, the Famine Devil, has been one of the most mysterious figures in Part 2. She seems to be manipulating events behind the scenes, from creating the Chainsaw Man Church to helping Asa break Denji out of prison. But her actual goal remains unclear.

Is she trying to resurrect the Death Devil? Does she want to use Denji for something? Or is she playing an even longer game involving the end of the world? Chapter 228 theories suggest Fami might be even more powerful than she appears, possibly connected to Death itself.

Fans are running out of time to get answers about this enigmatic Horseman.

Is Yoshida Friend or Foeโ€”or Something Else Entirely

Hirofumi Yoshida has been a constant presence in Part 2, always hovering around Denji with vague warnings and mysterious motives. He works for Public Safety but seems to have his own agenda. He has made contracts with multiple devils, knows more about the Horsemen than he should, and keeps popping up at exactly the right moments.

One popular theory suggests Yoshida might actually be the Death Devil in human form, or at least connected to Death. The theory points to his line in Chapter 115 where he tells Denji, “I’ve made peace with death.” That is an odd thing for a normal devil hunter to say.

Could he be more than just a devil hunter? Some fans believe that Yoshida’s connection to the Octopus Devil might be the key to understanding this theory.

With the series ending, Yoshida’s true allegiance needs to be revealed.

What Happened to Power’s Blood Contract

At the end of Part 1, Power made Denji promise to find the Blood Devil and turn her back into a humanโ€”or at least into Power again. She made a blood contract with him, which in Chainsaw Man rules is serious business.

But Part 2 has barely touched on this. The Blood Devil has not appeared, and Denji seems to have forgotten about his promise. With the story ending, is Fujimoto really going to leave Power’s resurrection unresolved? Many fans consider this one of the most important loose ends from Part 1.

Is Asa Mitaka Dead

Chapter 209 left readers with a terrifying possibility. During the fight with the Falling Devil, Yoru (the War Devil sharing Asa’s body) took a spear directly to the head. Unlike Denji, who can regenerate from almost anything, Asa and Yoru are technically a fiendโ€”they cannot heal from injuries like that.

Yoru’s strange behavior after the injuryโ€”forgetting about nuclear weapons, then suddenly remembering them and cryingโ€”has led many to theorize that Asa might actually be dead, and Yoru is now in full control of the body.

It is possible that Yoru is now taking on full control of Asa’s body due to the blow to the head, and she is also fully integrated with Asa’s personality.

If Asa is gone, that changes everything about the remaining chapters. But if she is still alive, how did she survive that injury?

Why Did Denji Let That Boy Die

One of the most controversial moments in all of Chainsaw Man happened early in Part 2. During his fight with the Cockroach Devil in Chapter 102, Denji had a choice: save a boy or save a cat. He chose the cat, and the boy died.

This moment has haunted Part 2 ever since. That boy had a twin brother, and that brother later became the Fake Chainsaw Manโ€”a villain who caused enormous damage. The Fire Devil explained that it made contracts with people who had justice in their hearts, and the surviving twin used that power to become Denji’s doppelganger, all because Denji let his brother die.

But the bigger question is: why did Denji make that choice? After everything he went through in Part 1โ€”losing Aki, losing Power, learning to value human connectionsโ€”why would he let an innocent person die?

Some fans see this as character regression. Denji in Part 2 appears emotionally hollow, almost like he has given up on being human. Is there a reason for this? Has something broken inside him that we have not seen yet? Or is Fujimoto making a darker point about Denji’s true nature?

What Will Happen When the Death Devil Arrives

The Death Devil has been teased since Part 1 as the most powerful of the Four Horsemen. As a Primal Fear, Death should be even more terrifying than the Darkness Devil. And with the series ending, Death is finally about to appear.

Theories about the Death Devil’s identity are everywhere. Will it be a terrifying monster like Darkness? Will it take a human form like Makima? Some fans think it could be Yoshida. Others believe it might take the form of Denji’s mother for maximum psychological damage.

Imagine the emotional chaos if the embodiment of Death appeared as the woman who once defined his pain. It would be a gut-wrenching, cruel twist that only Fujimoto could pull off.

There is also the terrifying possibility that Pochita’s erasure of other afterlife concepts has made Death even more powerful. By eating other death-related devils, Chainsaw Man may have accidentally created a Super-Primal being that even he cannot defeat.

The Fake Chainsaw Man Mystery Is Finally Solved

One mystery Part 2 did answer recently is the identity of the Fake Chainsaw Man. Chapter 205 revealed that the doppelganger was actually the twin brother of the boy Denji let die during the Cockroach Devil fight.

The Fire Devil explained that it granted the twin the power to transform into the shape of his justiceโ€”which, tragically, was Chainsaw Man himself. The brother had looked up to Denji as a symbol of hope, but watching Denji choose a cat over his brother’s life twisted that admiration into revenge.

It is a heartbreaking reveal that ties back to Denji’s questionable actions early in Part 2. But even with this mystery solved, it only raises more questions about Denji’s mental state and whether he even realizes the consequences of what he did.

Is Part 2 Really the End

Here is the biggest question of all: is Chainsaw Man actually ending? The March 10, 2026 release of Chapter 231 initially stated on its final page: “Final Chapter Coming 3/24!” Fans panicked, thinking the entire series was ending forever.

But then something strange happened. The chapter was quietly updated, and that final page now reads “to be continued” instead. The official social media post still says the next chapter is the final one, but the edit suggests something else might be going on.

The edit to the statement was surely made with a purpose, and the situation will likely become clear after the release of the new chapter later this month.

Many fans now believe that only Part 2 is ending, not the entire Chainsaw Man series. Just like how Part 1 ended in 2020 before Part 2 began years later, we might get a Part 3 down the road. But with no official confirmation yet, everyone is waiting for March 24 to find out for sure.
