The total number of people who watched this film worldwide reached 98.52 million, with 71.06 million of them being overseas viewers.

Before the new record holder arrived, Mugen Train was the king of anime box office. The movie made $506.4 million globally. It held the top position for several years until Infinity Castle came out.
