Netflix just dropped the official trailer for Roosters Season 2, and the four friends are back for more awkward moments. The streaming service also confirmed when fans can watch the new episodes. The Dutch comedy series, which became a surprise hit in the Netherlands and Belgium, returns with a fresh batch of episodes that continue the story of four men trying to figure out modern life.

The trailer, titled “This Is Danny,” gives viewers a look at what happens when Mike, Danny, Ivo, and Greg try to become better versions of themselves. After their time with course leader Bram, these friends think they have changed for the good. But the world around them is not ready for this new kind of behavior.

Trailer Shows Friends Trying to Be Less Cocky

The official Roosters Season 2 trailer opens with the four main characters talking about their new approach to life. They want to be more open and vulnerable. They also want to break free from old patterns between men and women. But the people around them do not understand what is happening.

Mike, played by Jeroen Spitzenberger, leads the group as they face pushback from their partners, coworkers, and even strangers. Danny, played by Waldemar Torenstra, seems to struggle the most with the changes. Ivo, played by Benja Bruijning, and Greg, played by André Dongelmans, also find themselves in funny and uncomfortable situations.

The trailer shows quick scenes of arguments, awkward silences, and moments where the friends question if changing themselves was a good idea. One clip shows Danny saying, “This is who I am now,” while his friend laughs at him. The humor comes from watching these men try so hard to be different, only to fail in very human ways.

Netflix Sets May 13 Release Date for Season 2

Roosters Season 2 will arrive on Netflix on May 13. The new season has eight episodes, just like the first season. Production for the second season started in summer 2025 after Netflix quickly renewed the show.

The first season became number one on the Netflix Top 10 in the Netherlands right after it came out. The show also did very well in Belgium. This success led Netflix to order more episodes very quickly.

Viewers in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and India can watch the new season on the same day. Netflix will make all episodes available at once for streaming worldwide. The exact streaming time on May 13 will be midnight Pacific Time for US viewers.

New Cast Members Join Season 2

The second season brings back the four main actors along with other familiar faces. Jennifer Hoffman, Jelka van Houten, Eva Laurenssen, Fockeline Ouwerkerk, and Frouke Verheijde all return from the first season.

But Netflix also added several new names to the cast for Roosters Season 2. Tanja Jess, Freek Bartels, Bas Hoeflaak, Bo Maerten, Kendrick Etmon, Sarah Chronis, Peter Blok, Claire Bender, and Mark Rietman will appear in the new episodes.

The show is directed by Anna van der Heide and Anna van Keimpema. Luuk van Bemmelen and Martijn Hillenius wrote the episodes. Hollands Licht produces the series for Netflix.

What the Trailer Reveals About Season 2 Story

The official trailer shows that the friends are ready to live as “new men.” They went through a deconstruction process with their course leader Bram in the first season. Now they think they understand how to behave better. They want to be more caring and less aggressive.

But the trailer makes it clear that their families and friends are not on board with these changes. One scene shows a woman telling one of the men, “You are not fooling anyone.” Another clip shows Greg trying to express his feelings, only to have his wife walk away.

The title of the trailer, “This Is Danny,” suggests that Danny might have the hardest time with the new approach. His friends see him trying to act differently, but old habits keep coming back. The comedy comes from watching these men fail while truly believing they are improving.

The trailer also hints that the group’s friendships will face real tests. The changes each man tries to make do not always line up with what the others want. Some characters seem to move forward while others hold on to the past.

First Season Success Led to Quick Renewal

Netflix confirmed Roosters Season 2 on March 10, 2025, just days after the first season came out. The show entered the Dutch Netflix Top 10 at number one immediately. This fast renewal shows how much confidence Netflix had in the series.

The first season followed Mike, Danny, Ivo, and Greg as they felt lost in a world that no longer needed their old ideas of masculinity. They joined a course to help them adapt. The show mixed funny moments with serious looks at how relationships and careers change over time.

Critics in the Netherlands praised the show for handling sensitive topics without losing the humor. Viewers connected with the characters because they felt real, not like perfect heroes. The four friends made mistakes, said the wrong things, and learned slowly.

The second season picks up where the first one ended. The men have finished the course. They believe they are ready for the world. The trailer suggests they might be wrong about that.

“In season 2, Mike, Danny, Ivo, and Greg do everything they can to be less cocky. But while the four friends are ready for a different, more vulnerable attitude toward life, the world around them is far from ready for this new form of masculinity.”
