The singing competition crowned its new champion on April 14, 2026. Alexia Jayy, a 31-year-old mother from Mobile, Alabama, took home the title of The Voice Season 29 winner during the live finale of The Voice: Battle of Champions. The victory also gave coach Adam Levine his first win in over a decade.

The finale featured four singers. Liv Ciara from Team Kelly Clarkson finished as the runner-up. Lucas West from Team John Legend placed third, and Mikenley Brown also from Team Kelly came in fourth. The studio audience, made up of past contestants and superfans, voted for the winner at the end of the two-hour broadcast.

Alexia Jayy’s Adele Performance Leaves Coaches in Tears

Jayy delivered two major performances during the finale. She opened with a version of “Lady Marmalade,” but it was her second song that truly sealed her win. Singing Adele’s “One and Only,” Jayy stood on stage in a white gown with a gold cape. Her voice moved all three coaches to tears.

Kelly Clarkson was visibly emotional as she wiped her eyes. She told Jayy, “You are so good. Wow, you’re like a vessel. Girl, that was so good, and you felt it. That was like a therapeutic release my heart needed.” Clarkson then joked, “Just promise me one thing — never cover my songs.”

John Legend also wiped tears from his face. He said, “You got us all weeping over here. We’re just proud of you, honestly. You’ve just been remarkable every single time and you’ve just been a blessing to all of us.”

Levine stood up from his chair before Jayy even finished singing. He took a deep breath and told her, “You make people reflect on their own life. When you tap into that, you make the world feel a little bit more together and communal. That’s really, really, really special. I’ve never experienced the feeling we all just had together.”

Adam Levine Secures Fourth Win After Long Break

This victory means a lot for Adam Levine. He now has four wins as a coach on The Voice. His previous winners were Javier Colon in Season 1, Tessanne Chin in Season 5, and Jordan Smith in Season 9. Smith won back in 2015. That means Levine went 11 years without a win until Jayy took the crown.

Levine left the show after Season 16 in 2019. He returned for Season 27 in 2025 and stayed for this 29th season. The show changed its format this year. Instead of four coaches, only three sat in the red chairs. Levine, Clarkson, and Legend competed against each other as the only coaches.

After Jayy’s name was announced, Levine said, “I’d say I can’t believe it, but I can. There is no one that is more deserving of this honor.”

How Alexia Jayy’s Son Helped Pick Her Coach

Jayy’s road to the finale started with a strong blind audition. She sang Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” All three coaches turned their chairs for her. That made her the first Triple Chair Turn of the season.

When it came time to pick a coach, Jayy brought her 9-year-old son Matthew on stage. John Legend asked Matthew what kind of music he listens to. Matthew answered, “Maroon 5.” That answer made Levine jump up and give Matthew a fist bump. Legend laughed and said, “That backfired. I never should’ve asked.”

Jayy chose Team Adam because of her son’s answer. During the competition, she also sang Whitney Houston’s “You Give Good Love” and the Commodores’ “Nightshift.” Before the semifinals, she posted on Instagram, “Tomorrow, I’m not just singing for me… I’m singing for everybody who believes in me.”

Fans Celebrate Alexia Jayy’s Victory Online

After the finale aired, viewers shared their reactions on social media and forums. Many said Jayy deserved the win from the very beginning.

One fan wrote on Idolforums, “YESSS! Perfect winner and runner-up. One of the greatest results in recent years.” Another user commented, “Can see Alexia win since the blind [audition].”

Another person pointed out how even the other coaches seemed happy for her. “You can tell even Kelly and John were actually rooting for Alexia,” one fan wrote. Some viewers also praised the voting format this season. One user said, “Maybe we should keep this voting format if it means the best singers make it farthest.”

Not every reaction was completely positive. Some fans wished she had chosen a different coach. One person wrote, “Congratulations Alexia! It would have been better if you were on Team Kelly!” But most agreed her talent was undeniable. A fan from Alabama summed it up by saying, “Alexia is insane, period.”

Jayy Wins 100,000 and a Recording Contract

As the winner of The Voice Season 29, Alexia Jayy takes home several prizes. She receives $100,000 in cash. She also gets a recording contract with Universal Music Group. The show is giving her a home recording studio kit as part of the “Artist Launch” package.

After her win, Jayy went backstage and FaceTimed her mother. She said through tears, “I won, I won, I won! I’m so proud of myself. This means so much. I cannot believe that I just won The Voice. I get to take this back home to my babies.”

John Legend also praised Jayy after the show. He called her “constantly stunning, beautiful, magical. I’m truly happy that she won the show.” Kelly Clarkson admitted, “This was Alexia’s night, and I’m really proud of her. She’s so gifted. Honestly, this woman that’s 31 years old, like, where have you been?”
