Episode Details And What Happened In Alaska

Tracker Season 3 Episode 18 aired on CBS on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 9:00 PM Eastern Time. The episode was written by Travis Donnelly and Dominique A. Holmes, and Dave Barrett was the director. The official synopsis from CBS says:

While searching for answers about his father, Colter is pulled into a tense case involving a teenage boy’s missing parents, uncovering a dangerous situation far more complicated than it first appears.

The episode begins with Colter going to Alaska to find Buck Avery. Colter has been reading his father’s old journals and notes. He learns that his father was a professor at Berkeley until something happened and he lost his job. After that, Ashton Shaw moved his whole family to a compound in the forest. Colter discovers his father was working with something called the Chronostasis Institute. Buck explains that government contractors had a secret lab on his family’s land. The lab was funded by DARPA and ran experiments involving the weather and the northern lights. Then there was an accident, and the whole lab closed down as if it never existed.

While leaving Buck’s property, Colter finds a teenage boy trying to break into his car. The boy is Ian Morrison, and he tells Colter that his parents are missing. Ian has no money to pay Colter, but Colter agrees to help anyway because the area has dangerous people living in it. Colter follows the trail of the parents’ boat and learns that TJ and Molly took them. The couple had stolen drgs from a dangerous drg lord named Griffin and were trying to sell them. When Griffin finds out, he tracks them down. There is a shootout, and Hal gets shot. The kidnappers leave him behind but keep Vera with them.

In the final scene, TJ makes a deal with Griffin to give up Molly in exchange for his own life. Griffin starts hitting Molly, but Vera comes to her rescue. During the fight, Griffin’s gun goes off, and Colter hears the noise. He arrives in time to stop Griffin and save both Vera and Molly. Ian is finally reunited with his parents, safe and alive.

What This Episode Means For The Rest Of Season 3

At the end of the episode, Colter calls his brother Russell Shaw and leaves a voicemail. He tells Russell about the government cover-up he discovered and gives him the name Dr. Serena Euckidge. He asks if Russell wants to help him track her down. This sets up a major return for Jensen Ackles as Russell Shaw in the season finale. CBS has confirmed that Ackles will appear in the Season 3 finale on May 24, 2026. The finale is called The Best Ones, and the official description says Colter and Russell will search for a victim of a bad research project. This connects directly to what Colter learned in Episode 18 about his father’s work at the secret lab.
