The hit oil drama is using a smart production trick to get new episodes to fans much quicker than normal.
If you have been waiting for Landman Season 3, there is some good news. The showโs director, Stephen Kay, recently shared an update about when the series might return.
The show, created by Taylor Sheridan and starring Billy Bob Thornton, has become a massive success for Paramount+. The Season 2 finale brought in 15.8 million viewers within 48 hours of its release. Now, the team is working hard to make sure the wait for Season 3 is not too long.
Production Is Moving Fast With A Different Method
Stephen Kay spoke at The Hollywood Reporterโs Directors in Focus event. He gave fans a clear reason to be excited. The production team is trying something new to save time.
โWeโre cutting while weโre shooting and so itโll hopefully be out soon.โ – Stephen Kay
Normally, a TV show finishes filming all episodes. Then, the editors start their work. For Landman Season 3, the editors are working on episodes while the cameras are still rolling on later ones. This smart move cuts down the time between the last day of filming and the day the show is ready to stream.
Kay confirmed he will go back to work on the set in about a month. This matches earlier reports that filming starts in May 2026. The cast and crew will be filming in Texas, where temperatures often go above 100 degrees. Co-creator Christian Wallace admitted the summer heat will be hard on everyone, but he said that rough, hot world is what makes the show feel real.

When Will Season 3 Premiere On Paramount+?
Paramount+ has not given an official release date yet. But we can make a smart guess based on the past. Season 1 started filming in February 2024 and came out in November 2024. Season 2 began in April 2025 and arrived in November 2025.
If Landman Season 3 starts filming in May 2026, a release in late 2026 makes the most sense. Some reports suggest fans could see new episodes by November 2026, which would continue the showโs yearly release pattern. However, because production started a little later than the previous seasons, there is also a chance it could slip to early 2027.

But Kayโs promise that editing during filming means the wait will not be longer than usual. Unlike many streaming shows that make you wait two or three years between seasons, Landman is staying on a tight schedule.

Who Is Coming Back For Season 3?
Almost all your favorite cast members are expected to return. Billy Bob Thornton will be back as Tommy Norris. He confirmed he plans to stay with the show for his full multi-year deal.
You can also expect to see Demi Moore, Ali Larter, and Michelle Randolph again. Jacob Lofland, who plays Cooper, told Us Weekly he hopes the new season gets back to the oil fields and the hard work. Andy Garcia and Mark Collie are also set to return.
Ali Larter spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the cast. She said everyone is very comfortable with their roles now. She called the cast extraordinary and said the set is a really special place to work.
What To Expect From The Story
The story for Landman Season 3 will likely focus on the new business. At the end of Season 2, Tommy, Cooper, and T.L. (Sam Elliott) started their own company called CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle.
Jacob Lofland teased that Taylor Sheridan always surprises the actors, so he tries not to have too many ideas in his head. He just trusts the process. The show moved from Paramount to being available on digital platforms recently, which was also a big hit.
Sam Elliott told Extra TV he is excited to see what happens next. For him, Season 2 is now just the backstory for what is coming.
While fans wait for Landman Season 3, all previous episodes are streaming on Paramount+. With filming about to start and editors already ready to work, the wait for Tommy Norris and the West Texas oil drama is almost over.
