Fans of the hit webtoon The Remarried Empress finally have a clear timeline for the live-action adaptation. The Korean drama, which has been in development for several years, is scheduled to hit Disney+ in the second half of 2026.

The streaming platform confirmed the release window during its 2026 global lineup showcase in January. The series joins a slate of more than 10 Korean productions debuting on Disney+ throughout the year.

The Webtoon That Started It All

The Remarried Empress began as a web novel written by Alphatart. The story gained massive popularity and became a webtoon illustrated by SUMPUL in 2019. After a seven-year run, the webtoon wrapped up on January 15, 2026, with Chapter 247.

The series has over 2.6 billion global views and has been translated into 10 languages. Its mix of romance, revenge, and palace politics turned it into one of the most-read webtoons worldwide.

What The Remarried Empress Is About

Empress Navier believes she has everything under control. She rules the Eastern Empire with skill and grace alongside her husband, Emperor Sovieshu. But their marriage has always been more about duty than love.

Everything changes when Sovieshu comes home with his mistress, Rashta, and demands a divorce. Navier refuses to let him destroy her life. She agrees to the divorce but asks for something shocking in return — permission to marry Heinrey, the prince of the rival Western Kingdom.

What follows is a story of revenge, political strategy, and unexpected romance as Navier rebuilds her life and takes back the power she lost.

The Main Cast and Their Roles

Shin Min-a plays Navier Ellie Trovi, the intelligent and elegant Empress of the Eastern Empire. Shin is known for her roles in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and No Gain, No Love.

Ju Ji-hoon takes on the role of Emperor Sovieshu Vict, Navier’s ex-husband who trades her for his mistress. Ju has appeared in Light Shop and Love Your Enemy.

Lee Jong-suk portrays Prince Heinrey Alles-Lazlo of the Western Kingdom. His character has a secret ability — he can transform into a bird and spies on the Eastern Empire’s palace. In his bird form, he meets and falls for Navier. This marks Lee’s return to television after his military service.

Lee Se-young plays Rashta Isqua, a runaway slave who becomes the Emperor’s mistress and later the new Empress. Lee has starred in Motel California and What Comes After Love.

Supporting Cast Members

Several familiar faces round out the cast. Lee Bong Ryun plays Eliza, a maid in the Western Kingdom’s palace. Choi Dae Hoon appears as Lord McKenn, Secretary to Prince Heinrey. Park Ho San takes the role of Viscount Lotteshu, Rashta’s former master.
