The upcoming anime series My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked will be available for free on YouTube outside Asia. Distributor REMOW announced through their “It’s Anime” channel that they will stream the show globally, excluding Asian territories. The series, based on Otsuji’s popular manga, offers a fresh take on the classic Cinderella story. It has already gained attention for its unique twist where the expected evil stepfamily turns out to be kind and caring.
The series will officially premiere in Japan on July 8, 2026. It will first air on Japanese television networks including TV Kanagawa, TV Saitama, Chiba TV, MBS, Tokyo MX, and BS Asahi. Japanese streaming services U-NEXT, Anime Hลdai, and Anime Times will also carry the show starting on the same day. Other streaming platforms will get the series one week later. International fans can watch it on the It’s Anime YouTube channel for free, which is run by REMOW.
Story and Premise
My Stepmother and Stepsisters Aren’t Wicked presents a clever twist on traditional fairy tale expectations. The story follows Miya Nakamura, a young girl who learns she is her father’s illegitimate child after her mother dies. She is taken in by the powerful Kลnokura family, fully expecting a life of hardship and mistreatment at the hands of her new stepmother and stepsisters. However, she discovers that her new family is not wicked at all. Instead, they shower her with kindness and genuine affection.
The manga has achieved significant popularity, with over 1 million copies in circulation including digital versions. It began serialization in Ichijinsha’s Comic POOL digital magazine in November 2020. Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the English version and describes it as a “hilarious and heartfelt comedy that’s sure to put a smile on your face.” The series has received critical recognition, ranking seventh in the Next Manga Awards in 2021.
Production and Cast
Keisuke Inoue, known for his work on My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! and Level 1 Demon Lord and One Room Hero, serves as director at animation studio NEWON. Nanami Hoshino, who wrote scripts for Mission: Yozakura Family, is in charge of series scripts. Mutsumi Sasaki, with credits including Laid-Back Camp and Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~, handles character design and serves as chief animation director.

The global streaming on the It’s Anime YouTube channel makes the show accessible to international audiences. REMOW operates the It’s Anime brand as a global platform dedicated to Japanese anime. They deliver official news and full-length episodes through their YouTube channel. The series will be available under the alternate English title “My mother-in-law and sister-in-law who don’t bully me.” This move follows REMOW’s strategy to bring anime content to worldwide viewers at no cost.
