A TikTok video posted by Donald Trump‘s campaign team featuring Taylor Swift‘s song “August” has had its audio removed. The video, which showed the former president and his wife Melania Trump watching fireworks, was posted four days ago on the official @TeamTrump account. The caption read: “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song!”. By Friday evening, the song was gone.
The Video That Started It All
The now-silent TikTok showed Donald Trump and Melania Trump standing on a balcony watching fireworks. Text over the video read: “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president”. The caption directly called out Swift with a sarcastic message about her reaction to the song’s use.
The @TeamTrump account has around 14 million followers and was created during the 2024 presidential campaign. It continues to post regularly.
How the Audio Disappeared
Fans noticed Friday evening that the Folklore track was no longer available on the video. U.S. TikTok users now see a message saying: “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country”. The video itself remains up, but the audio is gone.
Not the First Time for Team Trump
This is not the first time a Trump campaign TikTok using Swift’s music has lost its audio. A November 2025 video using Swift’s song “Father Figure” also had its sound removed. Some fans also noticed a third post using ‘Opalite’ had been taken down.
However, not all Swift songs on Trump-affiliated accounts have been affected. A video posted a day before the ‘August’ clip, using a version of Swift’s “Red,” still has its audio. A White House TikTok video from last November featuring “The Fate of Ophelia” also remains unchanged.
Swift’s History With Trump
Taylor Swift and Donald Trump have a long history of political clashes. In September 2024, Trump posted “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!” on social media after she endorsed Kamala Harris for president. Swift had written: “I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them”.
A month before that, Trump shared AI-generated images falsely suggesting Swift had endorsed him. One image showed her as Uncle Sam with text reading “Taylor wants you to vote for Donald Trump”. When asked if he worried about being sued, Trump said the images “were all made up by other people”.

Swift’s fans, known as Swifties, quickly responded to the audio removal. One top comment on the video read: “TAYLOR REMOVING THE AUDIO QUEEEEEEN”. Another user wrote: “Hey where did the music go? Didn’t you tell us he was in control of everything? Hahahahah!”.
On X (formerly Twitter), reactions were just as strong. One user posted: “I’m sure Taylor is super excited… that she got to mute your little August fantasy. Absolute cinema”. Another referenced Swift’s political stance: “One thing about Taylor is, she would always break maga allegations”. A third user wrote: “She want to say, I’m not MAGA”.
Some comments defended Trump. One user wrote: “He’s far from perfect but a great president nonetheless”. Another questioned the legal basis: “What’s she gonna sue him for? Using a public song on TikTok because its supposed to be used for videos”.
Artists Often Clash With Trump Over Music
Taylor Swift is far from the first musician to object to Trump using their songs. In June, Ariana Grande criticized the White House after her song “Bye” was used in a video showing ICE agents detaining people. Katy Perry and Noah Kahan have also recently objected to the administration using their music. Beyonce has also previously objected to her music being used at Trump rallies.
Swift’s Team Has Not Commented
Neither Taylor Swift‘s representatives nor Trump‘s team have commented publicly on the removal. It remains unclear whether Swift herself requested the takedown or if it was an automatic copyright process. What is clear is that the audio is gone, and fans have drawn their own conclusions.

The removal of “August” is not a blanket ban on all Swift music across Trump-affiliated accounts. A White House TikTok from November 2025 still uses “The Fate of Ophelia”.
