Sid Baker was a sharp MI5 agent assigned to Slough House. In Season 1, she got shot during a surveillance mission while following a far-right journalist. She was taken to the hospital, but MI5 Deputy Director Diana Taverner claimed she died from her injuries. However, the show never showed her body. In the Season 1 finale, Roddy Ho discovered that Sid’s MI5 records had been erased, which suggested she might still be alive.
For five seasons, fans have wondered what really happened to her. The new trailer finally confirms that Sid survived. In the clip, Jackson Lamb tells his team, “Oh come on, we’re spies. The season adapts two books from Mick Herron’s series: Joe Country and Slough House. This is the first season without showrunner Will Smith, who left the series. Gaby Chiappe takes over as showrunner for this season.
Olivia Cooke Opens Up About Her Comeback
Olivia Cooke spoke to Elle magazine about her return to the show. She said she heard “murmurings” about coming back over the years, but nothing was ever guaranteed. “I didn’t know how faithfully they were going to keep to the books, but there were various availability checks over the years,” she said. “I was like, ‘Okay, they’re still hoping to use me at some point’”.
Cooke filmed her Season 6 scenes during five weeks of night shoots before Christmas 2024. She finished shooting The Girlfriend for Prime Video and went straight to the Slow Horses set. She described the experience as joyful, even though the scenes involve being chased and shot at.
Keeping the secret was not easy for Cooke. She admitted, “I’ve told quite a lot of people”. She said people would ask what she was working on, and she would reply, “Oh, I’m just shooting Slow Horses”. They would respond, “You were shot in the head, you died”. Cooke said, “Thanks for that. So yeah, technically a secret. I find it very hard to keep secrets about myself”.
Returning Cast and New Faces
The Slow Horses Season 6 cast brings back many familiar faces. Gary Oldman returns as Jackson Lamb, the grumpy leader of Slough House. Jack Lowden is back as River Cartwright. Other returning cast members include Saskia Reeves, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Rosalind Eleazar, Joanna Scanlan, Samuel West, Ruth Bradley, Tom Brooke, Jonathan Pryce, and Hugo Weaving.
Hugo Weaving returns as Frank Harkness, River’s father, who last appeared in Season 4. The new season also adds Lenny Rush, a BAFTA TV Award winner, to the cast. Kyle Soller and MyAnna Buring play assassins pursuing the Slow Horses.
