Episode 1 Recap: Circle of Life
The season opens with death — and not just one kind. Struan Loy, a former Slough House agent last seen in Season 1, is living a quiet life running a children’s karate school. Two visitors arrive at his home, posing as property developers. The conversation turns violent, and Loy is killed. The message is clear from the very first scene: someone is targeting Slough House’s past.
At the Park, Diana Taverner is settling into her new role as First Desk, the top job at MI5. She’s trying to project authority, but Jackson Lamb immediately corners her about a bureaucratic problem — the current Slough House team has been erased from MI5’s systems, including payroll. Taverner dismisses it as a “technical glitch,” but Lamb knows better.
The emotional heart of the episode is David Cartwright’s funeral. River Cartwright is grieving his grandfather, a former MI5 chief whose dementia had been a long-running thread. The service is a cold, procedural send-off — the kind MI5 reserves for its own. River is forced to eulogize David as a Department for Transport employee, with Lamb barely stifling laughter over “pothole” metaphors.
The funeral becomes the unlikely hub where several plot threads intersect. Frank Harkness shows up watching from a distance. Episode 2 Recap: Daddy Issues
Episode 2 picks up with Frank Harkness on the move. He picks up a package from a dumpster and visits Andrew Nesmith, a former MI5 agent who recently lost his job at the Park. Nesmith had been stealing files from MI5’s archives for Harkness’s employer and then tried to extort more money. Harkness strangles him — but a child witnesses the murder and escapes. The loose end now needs tying.
Jackson Lamb realizes the Slow Horses are being systematically eliminated and orders his agents to go dark and regroup at Blake’s Grave, a known safe house. But River Cartwright ignores the order. He goes home instead, hoping to find his father. Instead, he finds Sid Baker — alive and hiding in his house.
Sid’s return is one of the season’s biggest reveals. She was shot in the head in Season 1, Episode 2, and confirmed dead in Episode 5. But Roddy had discovered there was no record of Sid Baker anywhere — no one by that name ever existed — suggesting she might be alive. Now she is. River’s already difficult day turns into “a long, difficult night” as the two are immediately attacked by Russian assassins.
Diana Taverner faces her own crisis. Peter Judd strong-arms her into a live media interview with Damien Cantor, a wealthy media mogul with a rising right-wing news channel. The interview is designed to humiliate her, and despite dodging some questions, it becomes a stain on her reputation. Worse: Cantor is revealed to be the employer behind the file theft and the assassinations. He’s the one paying Harkness and the hit squad.
Moira Tregorian becomes the latest target. While Standish and Shirley head out to collect Louisa Guy, the killers visit Moira and stage a gas leak. The threat is closing in from every direction.

Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman)

Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung)
Roddy is still the team’s tech expert, tracing calls and digging through systems. He’s the one who discovered that Sid Baker’s records didn’t exist. His character arc from Season 5 — becoming slightly more spiritual and self-aware — continues here, though he remains Roddy Ho at his core.
