Rajinikanth is back, and the box office is already feeling his pull. Jailer 2, the sequel to the 2023 blockbuster Jailer, has crossed ₹20 crore in worldwide advance bookings within just 24 hours of ticket sales opening. The film, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is set to release in theatres worldwide on October 15, 2026, and early trends suggest it is heading for one of the biggest openings for a Tamil film in recent years.
Advance Bookings Cross ₹20 Crore Worldwide in One Day
Ticket sales for Jailer 2 opened in India on October 10, with select overseas markets starting a day earlier. Kerala joined on the morning of October 11. Despite the staggered rollout, the film crossed ₹20 crore in worldwide pre-sales by the morning of October 11, according to tracking portal Sacnilk.
Overseas markets are leading the charge. International pre-sales have crossed $1 million (over ₹8.5 crore), with North America emerging as the biggest contributor, followed by the UAE, the United Kingdom, Australia, and several European territories.
In India, the film has collected over ₹4 crore in a single day, with Tamil Nadu contributing nearly 90% of domestic sales. Chennai alone accounts for ₹1.63 crore in pre-sales for the opening day.
Trade tracker Sacnilk reported that the film had grossed ₹17+ crore from overseas pre-sales and ₹3.50 crore in India for its opening day, taking the worldwide day 1 advance booking past the ₹20 crore mark.
By the afternoon of October 11, box office tracker Jerin Georgekutty stated on X that worldwide advance bookings had entered the ₹30 crore range, with opening-day pre-sales in Kerala crossing ₹3 crore within hours of bookings opening. These figures are based on tracker updates and have not been independently verified by the filmmakers.
