Tracker Season 4 Episode 3 delivered a case that looked solved twice before the real danger showed up. Titled “Original Parts,” the episode aired on CBS on October 18, 2026. Justin Hartley returned as Colter Shaw, who traveled to a deserted Texas town to find a missing wife. The search led to a fake rescue by a corrupt deputy and a final shootout. Away from the case, Fiona Rene’s Reenie Greene came face to face with an old flame named Adam Shevlin, played by Michael Malarkey.
The Case Starts With a Roadside Argument
Britt Carson, played by Madison Lintz, and her husband Logan, played by JT Neal, were driving home from a reunion when an argument broke out. Britt found late-night messages on Logan’s phone from a woman named Sherry. Logan said Sherry was only a coworker. Britt threw his phone out of the car, forced him to stop, and drove away alone.
Logan made it home on foot. Britt did not. He reported her missing, and Colter took the case. The setup suggested Logan was the one in danger, stranded on a dark road. The missing person turned out to be Britt, the one with the car.
Colter checked the road where Britt left Logan. He found broken glass and blood. The signs pointed to someone forcing their way into Britt’s car. Randy, played by Chris Lee, helped track security footage from a pharmacy break-in and a taco truck dashcam. The footage showed Britt with an injured man later identified as Cyrus Trotzig, played by Niko Nicotera.
Cyrus Forces Britt to Help Him Hide the Money
Cyrus had been shot and needed help. He held Britt at gunpoint and made her treat his wound and bury a duffel bag of cash in the desert. Colter followed the trail to a violent scene with two trucks. Two men were dead inside, and bags of corn were stuffed with dr*gs. Cyrus had survived the ambush and escaped with the money.
Colter worked out that the shooter was not after the dr*gs. The shooter wanted the cash. That detail became the key to the rest of the case.
Deputy Brunmeier Arrives at the Perfect Moment
Colter tracked Cyrus to a cabin. Cyrus held Britt at gunpoint and threatened Colter. Deputy Brunmeier appeared without warning and shot Cyrus dead. The rescue looked clean. Britt was safe, and the kidnapper was gone.
Colter did not accept it. The deputy arrived alone, without backup, and at the exact moment he was needed. When Brunmeier offered to drive Britt and Logan home, Colter’s suspicion grew. Randy tracked Logan’s phone and found the group heading back toward the desert instead of home.
Brunmeier was after the duffel bag. He had been the hidden shooter at the truck scene. Cyrus was a loose end, and Britt knew where the money was buried. The deputy took Logan and Britt to the cash site and turned on them.
Colter’s Final Move Ends the Case
Colter caught up with the group and found Logan hurt on the trail. He went after Brunmeier, who shot at Britt as she tried to escape over the rocks. Britt survived. Colter was grazed by a bullet and fell. He stayed still and pretended to be dead. When Brunmeier let his guard down, Colter got up, shot him, and put him in handcuffs.
Sheriff Danaher arrived, arrested Brunmeier, and opened an internal investigation into the department. Britt and Logan both survived. The episode did not show them resolving the argument about Logan’s messages.
Reenie Runs Into Adam Shevlin at the Wrong Time
Reenie spent the episode looking for a new office with Mel. Her high standards made the search slow. During one visit, she ran into Adam Shevlin, an old flame and former coworker who now works as a private investigator for high-end law firms.
The reunion was awkward. Adam apologized for how he handled their relationship in the past and asked Reenie to get drinks. Reenie turned him down. She made it clear that their contact should stay professional.
“Colter gets hired to track down a woman who disappeared after an argument with her husband in a deserted Texas town. Meanwhile, an unexpected reunion with an old friend, Adam Shevlin (Michael Malarkey), leaves Reenie revisiting her past.”
That synopsis from CBS sums up the two main threads of the episode. The details of Reenie and Adam’s history were not explained. Michael Malarkey, known for The Vampire Diaries, was cast in a recurring guest role. Adam was described in casting reports as “disarmingly handsome, intelligent and sophisticated, but with a bit of a bad-boy undercurrent.” He was first mentioned in the Tracker pilot when Maxine told Reenie about a man from her past working at the firm.
Reenie’s choice is simple. She is not giving Adam a second chance. She agrees to work contact, not a renewed romance.

Colter Meets Jenna Nova at the Salvage Yard
Before the case began, Colter visited a salvage yard to find a bench seat for his father’s old truck. He met Jenna Nova, played by Gillian Bolt, who works at the parts business with her father. The two already knew each other, and the scene showed clear chemistry. They made plans for a casual barbecue once the parts arrived.
The case pulled Colter away from the date. The episode did not give much background on Jenna or how long Colter has known her. Their barbecue plan is still in place.
