A2O LITE has done something only two other K-pop girl groups have ever managed. The nine-member group, launched by SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-man, achieved a Perfect All-Kill with their debut single “NEON” on October 26, 2026, just 13 days after releasing the song on October 13. The milestone places them alongside BLACKPINK and ILLIT as the only acts in K-pop history to earn a PAK with a debut track.
What a Perfect All-Kill Actually Means
Instiz’s iChart confirmed the PAK at 8:30 a.m. KST on October 26. The certification requires a song to sit at No. 1 on the daily and Top 100 charts of Melon, the daily and realtime charts of Genie and Bugs, YouTube Music’s Top Songs chart, VIBE’s daily chart, the realtime charts of FLO and iChart, and finally the iChart weekly chart. “NEON” cleared every single one of those conditions.
The song is only the fourth track to achieve a PAK in all of 2026. The other three are IVE’s “BANG BANG,” AKMU’s “Paradise of Rumors,” and (G)I-DLE’s Soyeon with “I’m gonna TOESA”.
The Fastest Debut to Hit No. 1 on Melon Since 2021
“NEON” reached No. 1 on Melon’s Top 100 chart at 11 p.m. KST on October 14, roughly 29 hours after its 6 p.m. release on October 13. No rookie group’s debut song had climbed to the top of Melon that quickly since the chart was overhauled in 2021.
The comparison numbers make the speed clearer. NewJeans’ “Attention” took eight days to reach No. 1 on Melon after its release. ILLIT’s “Magnetic” needed ten days. A2O LITE did it in one day.
The song held the Melon Top 100 No. 1 spot for 11 consecutive days, from October 15 to October 25, according to the group’s agency.
Four Music Show Trophies Without a Physical Album
A2O LITE collected their first music show win on SBS Life’s “The Show” on October 20, only seven days after debut. Three more followed in quick succession: MBC M’s “Show Champion” on October 21, Mnet’s “M Countdown” on October 22, and SBS’s “Inkigayo” on October 25.
The “Inkigayo” win was decided by a combined score of 6,060 points for “NEON,” ahead of NCT WISH’s “I SPY” at 5,587 and Soyeon’s “TOESA” at 4,056. Every one of these wins came without a physical album release—a rare feat in K-pop, where album sales often decide music show outcomes.
Who Is A2O LITE
The group is a nine-member multinational act under A2O Entertainment, the agency Lee Soo-man established after leaving SM Entertainment. Members include YOUNG, HIMEKI, VORA, XILI, RADA, MERCI, AYUNE, OA, and AIJING. The lineup pulls from South Korea, China, Japan, Thailand, and the United States, with an average age of around 15.
A2O LITE debuted simultaneously with a boy group, A2O SOUL, on October 13, following a joint showcase at KINTEX in Goyang on October 12. The group performs what the agency calls “Zalpha Pop,” a sound aimed at Generation Z and Generation Alpha listeners. “NEON” runs 3 minutes and 28 seconds, built around a heavy bass line, high vocal passages, and a dance break.
The Song That Became a Meme Before It Became a Hit
Viral attention around “NEON” started with a misheard lyric. The chorus line “Neon and Beyond” sounded to Korean listeners like “mihon and bihon”—a phrase roughly meaning “unmarried and choosing not to marry.” Influencer feellikefeel rewrote the lyric and sang, “Mihon and bihon, everyone, what is this…”, and the joke spread fast.
AI-generated videos followed. Characters from the film “Oldboy” danced in formation to “NEON,” and a clip featuring Kim Hee-ae and Ha Yoo-mi from the drama “My Husband’s Woman” doing the choreography as a duo pulled in tens of thousands of likes. A Chiikawa version and parodies using HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk and ooak records CEO Min Hee-jin also circulated.
Lee Soo-man addressed the group’s approach at the debut showcase on October 12. “Before trying to find what’s different, I hope you first feel that it’s just ‘good,’” he said.
What the Members Said After the Wins
Accepting the “Inkigayo” trophy, YOUNG spoke about how quickly everything has moved. “It really hasn’t been long since we debuted, and I’m happy and still can’t quite believe we’re receiving so much love,” she said. “Thank you for the valuable award, and I consider it an honor”.
After the first win on “The Show,” the group thanked Lee Soo-man and producer Yoo Young-jin. “We will make efforts to become artists we can be proud of in the future,” the members said.
