Telugu and Tamil actress Sunainaa has publicly condemned an obscene AI-generated video that used her face without her permission. The actress said the video was made and shared on social media without her consent. She has warned of criminal and civil action against everyone involved in creating, publishing, or sharing the video. The incident adds to a growing list of Indian actors speaking out against the misuse of artificial intelligence to create fake explicit content.
Sunainaa Calls The Video A Violation Of Dignity And Privacy
Sunainaa shared a statement on her Instagram page on October 26 and also posted it on X. In the statement, she said an AI video was being circulated on social media and other online platforms in which her face had been morphed onto obscene content.
The actress said the content was digitally generated or manipulated to make a person look like her in appearance, likeness, and persona. She made her position clear with strong words.
“I am appalled and disgusted by this vile and malicious act, and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”
Sunainaa also stated that she had neither consented to nor authorised the creation, publication, or circulation of the content in any manner. She said any suggestion that she is associated with the video is false, misleading, and without any foundation.
“This is a gross violation of my dignity, my privacy and my identity.”
Actress Cites Sexual Harassment And Indian Laws
Sunainaa described the act as a serious offence under Indian law. She said creating and sharing such content amounts to sexual harassment and is defamatory. She specifically named the laws that make it a criminal offence.
“It amounts to sexual harassment, is defamatory, and constitutes a criminal offence under the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Such conduct is wholly unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”
The Information Technology Act, 2000 deals with cyber crimes and online content in India. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 is the country’s new criminal code that replaced the Indian Penal Code. By naming these laws, Sunainaa made it clear that she sees this as a legal matter, not just an online controversy.
Warning Issued To Anyone Sharing The Video
Sunainaa did not limit her warning to the people who made the video. She also cautioned anyone who shares, forwards, or reposts it. In her statement, she asked all persons to immediately stop creating, uploading, sharing, forwarding, or reposting the content, or any part or variation of it. She also demanded that the video be deleted from every platform, account, group, and device under their control.
“I will initiate criminal and civil proceedings, without further notice, against every person responsible for creating, publishing or circulating this content. Anyone who shares it further will also be held liable.”
The actress also appealed to her well-wishers, the public, and the media not to share the video. She asked them to report it wherever they find it online. This means even people who are not the original creators could face legal consequences if they continue to spread the video.
Other Indian Actors Have Faced Similar AI Abuse
Sunainaa is not the first Indian actor to deal with this problem. Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR recently warned of legal action after their song “Chuttamalle” from the film Devara was altered using AI to create obscene content. Rashmika Mandanna and Keerthy Suresh have also spoken out against the misuse of their likeness in AI-generated videos.
The issue is not limited to the film industry. Javed Akhtar and Neha Sharma have also faced similar problems with fake AI videos. The repeated incidents show that AI tools are being used to target public figures, and the victims are now pushing back with legal threats.
Who Is Sunainaa
Sunainaa, also known as Sunaina Yella, made her acting debut in 2005 with the film Kumari vs Kumari. She later became known for her work in Tamil cinema, including the critically acclaimed film Neerparavai. Her recent credits include the 2024 Prime Video series Inspector Rishi and the 2025 film Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula.
The actress has a master’s degree in Journalism and has worked as a field reporter and sub-editor before entering films. Her background in journalism may explain the clarity and structure of her statement, which reads like a formal legal notice.

What The Statement Means For Social Media Users
The core message from Sunainaa is simple: making or sharing an AI-generated explicit video of someone without their consent is not a joke or harmless fun. It is a punishable offence under Indian law. The actress has made it clear that she will pursue both criminal and civil cases against anyone involved.
For social media users, this is a direct warning. Forwarding or reposting such content can lead to legal trouble. Deleting the video and reporting it is the safest course of action. Sunainaa‘s statement reserves all her legal rights and remedies, meaning she is keeping all options open for further action.
