Sai Pallavi studied to become a doctor. She ended up as one of South cinema’s most respected actors. That career switch became the subject of a funny exchange on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18 when host Amitabh Bachchan asked her a simple question. Her Ramayana co-star Ranbir Kapoor gave an answer that needed just one line to land.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Question About Sai Pallavi’s Career Switch

A promo released by the show’s makers shows Amitabh Bachchan asking Sai Pallavi about her move from medicine to movies. The host put it plainly.

“You studied to become a doctor. And you ended up here. How?”

Sai Pallavi completed her MBBS from Tbilisi State Medical University in Georgia. She did not practise as a doctor. Her acting debut came with the Malayalam film Premam, and she went on to build a career across Malayalam, Telugu, and Hindi cinema.

Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Bhagwan Ka Prescription’ Line

Sai Pallavi answered Amitabh Bachchan by saying her entry into films was destined.

“That’s how God wrote it. It was written that I was supposed to act.”

Her reply left the host puzzled for a moment. Ranbir Kapoor, sitting beside her, added his own explanation.

“Bhagwan ka prescription tha Sir, that she has to act.”

The line drew cheers and applause from the studio audience. The joke worked because it mixed Sai Pallavi‘s medical background with a simple idea: a higher power wrote the prescription, and acting was the treatment.

Sai Pallavi on Playing Sita in Ramayana

Another promo from the same episode shows Sai Pallavi talking about her role as Sita in Nitesh Tiwari‘s Ramayana. She said her approach to this character was different from her usual process.

“I didn’t want to use my head this time. Every time when I play a character, I think, ‘What can I give to that character?’ but this was the first time when I thought, ‘What can I get for playing a role like that of Sita Maa?’”

She added that she prayed to Sita Maa before moving forward with the role.
