The check cleared at $44 billion. The allegation behind it has no such paper trail.

Elon Musk paid $54.20 a share for Twitter in a deal announced April 25, 2022, and completed Oct. 27, 2022. The transaction was valued at about $44 billion, according to Twitter’s merger announcement and the securities filing that confirmed the close.

On Monday, Oct. 26, 2026, streamer Sneako accused Musk of buying the platform to spread what he called “Mossad propaganda,” according to a SoapCentral report that reviewed the post. He posted it on X, the platform in question.

“Mossad propaganda.”

That is the claim. It is not a finding.

The number is not in dispute

Musk’s purchase price is one of the most documented numbers in modern tech dealmaking. Twitter’s April 2022 announcement put the transaction at approximately $44 billion, or $54.20 per share in cash. That represented a 38% premium to Twitter’s closing price on April 1, 2022, the last trading day before Musk disclosed his roughly 9% stake.

The financing was equally public. Musk lined up $25.5 billion in fully committed debt and margin-loan financing and put in about $21 billion of equity, according to the announcement. The deal closed after Musk tried to walk away in July 2022, Twitter sued him in Delaware Chancery Court, and Musk reversed course weeks before trial. He fired CEO Parag Agrawal and other top executives almost immediately. Twitter was rebranded X in July 2023.

The legal afterlife continued into 2026. The Guardian reported in May that Musk settled an SEC civil case over his delayed disclosure of his initial Twitter stake. A trust in his name agreed to pay a $1.5 million civil penalty without admitting wrongdoing. The SEC had alleged that an 11-day delay allowed him to buy more than $500 million in additional shares at artificially low prices. Musk described the delay as inadvertent.

The claim is not evidence

Sneako, whose legal name is Nicolas Kenn De Balinthazy, is arguing something different from the price. He wants his audience to believe the acquisition was a propaganda purchase.

No public filing, court record, regulatory finding, or credible reporting reviewed by VVIPTimes supports the claim that Musk bought Twitter at the direction of Mossad or to distribute its material. Mossad is Israel’s foreign intelligence service. A covert influence operation run through a $44 billion social platform would be a major legal and intelligence story. It would not exist only as a post.

Sneako’s own record matters here. The Anti-Defamation League has described him as “one of the most prominent vectors for antisemitism” online, and he has repeatedly invoked Mossad in claims about everything from the World Cup to American politics. That does not automatically make this specific allegation false. It does mean readers should treat it as a claim from a partisan streamer with a history of repeating the same conspiracy language, not as a leaked finding.

Sneako has also spent much of the past year attacking Musk in public. He has called Musk the “face of white supremacy,” urged his deportation, and told him to “go back to Africa” during one exchange. The two men have clashed over immigration, Islam, and Musk’s politics. The Mossad post landed inside that fight, not outside it.

X is not a standalone company anymore

“SpaceX boss” is not wrong as a description of Musk’s power, but X is no longer a standalone company owned directly by him. In March 2025, xAI acquired X in an all-stock deal that valued X at $33 billion in equity, or $45 billion including $12 billion in debt. In February 2026, SpaceX acquired xAI, creating a combined company valued at $1.25 trillion.

X now sits inside a chain of private companies that Musk controls. Any serious claim about Musk “using Twitter” has to account for that structure, the algorithm, and the people who run trust and safety. A single post does not.

The valuation gap is the more interesting business story. Musk paid $44 billion. X was later marked at $33 billion in equity in the xAI deal, about $11 billion below the purchase price. X’s annual revenue remains roughly 35% below Twitter’s pre-Musk peak, according to a June 2026 analysis by European Business Magazine. The platform’s strategic value to Musk now runs through data and AI, not through the old Twitter business model. That does not prove a propaganda motive. It does explain why the platform’s purpose has changed.

For all the noise, the documented record is narrow. Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion. He renamed it X. He folded it into his AI and space companies. Sneako posted an allegation and offered no evidence in the post. No X or SpaceX filing addresses it. If a court document, regulator, or named insider ever does, the story changes. Until then, the claim is a streamer’s assertion, not a receipt.
