A nearly three-minute video from British comedian and podcaster Cody Dahler has gone viral after he broke down how Donald Trump and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg allegedly tried and failed to sway the 2026 Brazilian presidential election. The video, posted across Instagram and YouTube in late October 2026, has racked up hundreds of thousands of views and likes, mixing sharp political satire with a detailed rundown of recent events in Brazil.

Dahler, known for making politics accessible through comedy, opened the video by calling Trump a “human laxative” while showing a picture of the U.S. president, before turning his attention to Zuckerberg, whom he described as looking like “an AI reconstruction of some Anglo-Saxon remains found beneath a car park”.

Who Is Cody Dahler and Why Is His Video Blowing Up

Cody Dahler is an award-winning British comedian, writer, and podcaster who has built a following of more than two million people on Instagram and close to one million on TikTok. His podcast, The Truth (In My Opinion), has over 100,000 subscribers, and his niche is political comedy aimed at people who might otherwise avoid politics.

The comedian’s video struck a chord because it arrived just days after Brazil’s election results were finalized. Dahler’s Instagram caption summarized his take, writing that Brazil had “rejected the Donald Trump-sponsored far-right candidate” in favor of Lula, a outcome he said “the entire world found to be an incredible relief”.

What Happened in Brazil’s 2026 Presidential Election

Brazil held the second round of its presidential election on October 25, 2026. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the 80-year-old left-wing candidate, defeated Flávio Bolsonaro, the son of former president Jair Bolsonaro, by a narrow margin.

Final results from Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court showed Lula winning with 51.79% of valid votes, while Flávio Bolsonaro received 48.21%. In the first round on October 4, Flávio had actually led with 47.03% against Lula’s 45.16%, making the second-round comeback a significant reversal.

Dahler’s video explained the stakes with his signature blunt humor: “Here’s a quick rundown before you’re told to ‘f**k off’ by the Brazilian electorate as well. On Sunday, Brazil elected the 80-year-old left-winger Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva for the fourth time as president, defeating the far-right candidate Flávio Bolsonaro”.

The comedian also reminded viewers of the Bolsonaro family’s legal troubles. Jair Bolsonaro is currently serving a 27-year jail term for launching a coup after losing the 2022 election and for plotting to kill Lula.

How Trump Reportedly Tried to Help Flávio Bolsonaro

Dahler’s video laid out a series of moves by the Trump administration that he argued were designed to boost Flávio’s chances. The comedian claimed that Trump hosted Flávio at the White House in May 2026, where the U.S. president “designated two Brazilian criminal gangs as terrorist organizations” to help Flávio’s “tough-on-crime image”.

Trump also imposed 50% tariffs on Brazilian imports, which he linked directly to the trial of Jair Bolsonaro. The U.S. president called the proceedings against his ally a “witch hunt” and threatened the tariffs as retaliation.

Dahler’s video noted that Brazil did not back down. “After that, Trump slapped more tariffs on Brazil and said he’d only lift them if the White House could gain access to negotiations over the country’s critical minerals and if it would allow Flávio’s dad Jair to run for president. But Brazil told him to f**k off,” the comedian said.

The Zuckerberg and Meta Connection

The video also focused on Mark Zuckerberg and Meta, the parent company of Instagram and Facebook. Dahler claimed that in the week before the Brazilian election, Lula was unable to “boost his campaign” on Instagram, an app used by roughly 70 percent of Brazilians as their primary source of information, while Flávio Bolsonaro was able to campaign freely on the platform.

Meta reportedly called the restriction an “isolated mistake,” but Dahler was not convinced. He pointed to the suspension of the anti-Trump No Kings movement account in the U.S. just days earlier as evidence of a pattern.

The comedian also cited a University of Rio de Janeiro report that found paid Instagram ads encouraging voters to stay home because of rain and vote online, which Dahler noted is “not possible in Brazil”.

Protests against Meta’s handling of the election did take place. In São Paulo, supporters of Lula gathered outside Meta’s headquarters on October 20, 2026, accusing the company of “electoral interference” and favoring Flávio Bolsonaro. Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court also ordered Meta to prove that its AI systems were not favoring either candidate ahead of the runoff.

What Lula Said After Winning

Lula addressed supporters after his victory, telling them: “I can assure you that we are going to change the way we govern this country. We are going to give the people a greater role in our decisions… I won’t speak of national unity, because that doesn’t always fit the reality of this country. No one is obliged to like the elected president, but he was put in place to govern for everyone”.

He also praised the young people of Brazil who “took to the streets to defend democracy”.

Flávio Bolsonaro’s Response and Departure

Flávio Bolsonaro did not accept the result. He declared the court’s ruling “unacceptable” and said: “It is impossible to recognize the election results, given the circumstances under which things unfolded. We will take legal action. We will ask for this election to be annulled”. His Liberal Party conceded on the following Monday.

Flávio was later asked to surrender his passports as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into alleged corruption, tax evasion, and money laundering. Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes barred him from leaving the country. Instead of complying, Flávio flew to Argentina and Ecuador before landing at an executive airport near Miami, Florida, with his wife and two daughters on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.

Trump’s Comments on Flávio’s Arrival in the U.S.

Trump told reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Wednesday that he “approved” Flávio’s entry into the United States and that Brazil had treated him “unfairly.” Trump said: “We gave him a pass to come into the country… I think they’re fine people. The election was very strange, and I thought it was terrible. It got bad reviews, and look what happened to their market”.

The U.S. president also claimed he “wouldn’t get involved” and “didn’t take sides,” adding that he knows Flávio “a little bit” because of his father, former president Jair Bolsonaro. The Department of Homeland Security said Flávio and his family underwent “inspection” before being granted clearance under U.S. immigration law.

Why the Video Is Resonating

Dahler’s video has connected with audiences because it packages a complicated international story into a short, digestible, and brutally funny explainer. His Instagram caption ended with a question that has been shared widely: “With evidence that Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta suppressed left-wing content on Instagram during the election and has also been found to have banned the No Kings account in the US, questions remain around whether we have entered a new era of right-wing authoritarian governments being sponsored and possibly imposed by the social media tech bros”.
