The latest Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 3 trailer came close to giving away one of the story’s most painful moments. The two-minute-thirty-seven-second preview, released by Disney+ on November 2, 2026, follows the events of The Titan’s Curse in close order, and it stops just short of showing the tragic end that book readers already know is coming. At the same time, the trailer confirms a major shift in the show’s central mystery: the Great Prophecy may no longer point only to Percy Jackson and Thalia Grace. A third candidate has entered the frame, and his name is Nico di Angelo.

The Trailer Stops Right Before the Heartbreak

The trailer opens with Percy walking through a dusty space before the scene moves to him trying to rescue Bianca and Nico di Angelo. Annabeth Chase steps in to save Percy from a monster, and then the story cuts to the aftermath of her capture. A quiet moment between Percy and Aphrodite hints at his feelings for Annabeth, which he denies. The biggest visual moment arrives with Talos, the giant metallic man from Greek mythology. Readers of Rick Riordan’s third book know that this scene ends with Bianca sacrificing herself to bring the giant down. The trailer does not show her death. It does show Nico sobbing and running away, a moment that carries heavy weight for anyone who has read the book. Percy had promised Nico that he would protect Bianca. He fails. Nico runs, blaming Percy, and then reveals that he and Bianca are children of Hades by banishing a Spartoi to the Underworld.

The Great Prophecy Adds a Third Name

Until that moment in the story, the Great Prophecy had only two known candidates: Percy, son of Poseidon, and Thalia, daughter of Zeus. The prophecy states that a child of the Big Three — Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades — will either raise Olympus to new heights or bring it crashing into ruin, with their own life hanging in the balance. Nico’s reveal as a son of Hades makes him a possible third candidate. The show’s executive producer, Craig Silverstein, described the tension between Percy and Thalia as the season’s central dynamic. Both demigods sit at the center of the prophecy, and neither knows who will ultimately tip the balance.

“They are both, as far as they know, the only children of the Great Prophecy,” Silverstein said. “Is it going to be me or you?”

That question hangs over every interaction between Percy and Thalia. Walker Scobell, who plays Percy, said the arrival of Nico changes the emotional math of the season. Scobell told Entertainment Weekly that Nico will be “a bigger part of the entire season”.

Why Bianca’s Fate Still Matters

Bianca di Angelo, played by Olive Abercrombie, is not a background character. Her choice to join the Hunters of Artemis and her later sacrifice inside Talos are the events that push Nico toward the person he becomes. The trailer’s decision to show Nico running and crying without showing Bianca’s death keeps the show’s biggest emotional beat intact for viewers who have not read the books. At the same time, the scene gives book readers a clear signal that the show is not softening the story. The prophecy line “one shall be lost in the land without rain” is fulfilled through Bianca’s death in the Junkyard of the Gods sequence.

A Darker Season With Higher Stakes

Scobell has called Season 3 the show’s “darkest season yet.” Silverstein did not shy away from the weight of the material.

“People are dying, and the stakes just keep dialing up, and getting more real,” Silverstein said.

The season adapts The Titan’s Curse, a book that introduces death as a real consequence for the main group. Season 2 brought more blood. Season 3 brings loss. The production has matched that shift with creature designs and a tone that is noticeably heavier than the first two seasons. Jonathan E. Steinberg, co-creator and executive producer, said the larger war that the show has been hinting at for two seasons becomes real in Season 3.

“The story that we’ve been hinting at for two seasons about the bigger war is now starting to become real,” Steinberg said. “And we’re going to meet our first real bad guy”.

The Quest That Brings Nico Into the Prophecy

The season’s main mission begins when Annabeth is captured by the forces of Kronos. Percy must free a goddess in chains, confront the Titan’s curse, and avoid triggering the fall of Olympus. Grover joins him, and the group expands to include Thalia, Bianca, and Zoë Nightshade, Artemis’s lieutenant. Their journey moves through the Garden of the Hesperides, the Junkyard of the Gods, and the Hoover Dam. The mission to extract Nico and Bianca from Westover Hall is what puts Annabeth in peril in the first place. That rescue attempt is the doorway through which Nico enters the prophecy conversation.

What the Trailer Shows Without Saying

The trailer gives viewers their first look at Levi Chrisopulos as Nico and Olive Abercrombie as Bianca. It also confirms the debuts of several gods: Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite, Ming-Na Wen as Hera, Jennifer Beals as Demeter, and Hubert Smielecki as Apollo . Dafne Keen appears as Artemis, and Saara Chaudry plays Zoë Nightshade. Holt McCallany joins as Atlas. The cast returns Walker Scobell as Percy, Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Charlie Bushnell as Luke, and Tamara Smart as Thalia . The trailer does not explain what Nico’s reveal means for the prophecy. It simply shows the moment that changes the board.

What Fans Are Saying About Nico and the Prophecy

Fan discussion around the trailer has focused on Nico’s place in the prophecy and the weight of Bianca’s fate. On Tumblr, one post asked whether Nico ever learned that Percy accepted the prophecy partly to keep him safe. Another fan noted that Percy choosing the prophecy to spare Nico carries a painful irony because Percy did not know what he was signing up for at the time . The conversation around Bianca has also stayed active, with readers pointing out that the books have been out for years and that her sacrifice is central to Nico’s story . The trailer has restarted those conversations without giving away the scene itself.

The Prophecy Question That Season 3 Cannot Answer Yet

The Great Prophecy does not resolve in The Titan’s Curse. Season 3 introduces Nico as a candidate, deepens the tension between Percy and Thalia, and shows that the cost of the quest is real. The line “one shall be lost in the land without rain” is fulfilled through Bianca. The larger question of which child of the Big Three will stand at the center of the final prophecy remains open. Silverstein’s comment that Percy and Thalia believe they are the only candidates sets up the uncertainty that drives the season. Nico’s arrival does not answer the prophecy. It makes the question harder.
