Brian Austin Green recently revisited some of the challenges he faced during his relationship with former wife Megan Fox. During a candid conversation on the October 29, 2024, episode of Tori Spelling’s misSPELLING podcast, Green shared how small irritations and recurring conflicts signaled deeper issues in their relationship. His insights shed light on how everyday frustrations can grow, eventually leading to more serious relationship difficulties.
Little Annoyances and Growing Frustrations
In his podcast conversation, Green discussed how Fox became irritated with some of his habits, such as the sound of his chewing. The topic arose when Spelling mentioned how her daughter is sometimes bothered by similar sounds, prompting Green to reflect on Fox’s reactions. He noted, “I don’t know. I know it just always bothered her.”
He went on to suggest that the small irritations Fox felt may have been a sign of underlying issues. “I honestly think that the chewing thing was just like, she’d gotten to the point, I think, where things just weren’t great,” he explained. As their relationship progressed, Green sensed that Fox was becoming increasingly frustrated with even minor details of daily life. Describing this familiar feeling, he added, “You kinda get to that point where you’re like, God, just the way you’re shuffling your feet right now, the way you’re putting that toast in the toaster is just driving you crazy. It’s all that stupid little stuff, you know.”
These seemingly trivial annoyances often point to a more substantial disconnect, Green observed. Recalling this period, he shared that he felt they needed to make a choice between seeking therapy to address these issues or risking the relationship’s decline. He explained, “This was the time when I thought either we should go see a therapist, try to figure this whole thing, or this whole troublesome situation might sink us.”
Breakup and Life After Marriage
Green and Fox officially ended their relationship in 2020, with Green first announcing the separation on his own podcast. At the time, he acknowledged the growing distance between them and shared that, while they had attempted to work through their issues, they ultimately decided to go their separate ways. Green clarified during this announcement that infidelity was not a factor in the breakup, addressing public speculation that arose after Fox’s relationship with musician Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) became public.
Fox filed for divorce from Green in November 2020, just days after her red-carpet debut with MGK at the American Music Awards. Despite the personal difficulties that led to their split, Green and Fox remain connected through their three children—Noah, Bodhi, and Journey—with Green affirming that their primary focus is co-parenting in a positive environment.
Since the split, Green has also moved forward in his personal life, finding love with Dancing with the Stars alum Sharna Burgess, to whom he is now engaged. Green’s reflections highlight the complex nature of long-term relationships, where seemingly small issues can mask larger underlying challenges.
